Thank you to all those who wrote in of their negative experience at Rags To Riches consignment shop. I was going to take my beaded New Year's Eve evening gown there, but after reading all the comments on the lack of customer service and unprofessionalism there, I won't go there. Several angry women cannot be wrong! Thank you dear ladies for sparing me from a big heartache. Oh, and one good litigation case will get them to change the way they do business or close the business for good.

My review is the same as below so I'll make this short and sweet...my step daughter put a dress on consignment, over a year went by heard nothing...I called because she no longer lived in Michigan due to being military and the owner claimed she had no record of the dress. I found it on the rack because it's literally one of a kind plus the hand done alterations her mother had done the day of prom and owner denied this and told me too bad. RUN from this business....she is very dishonest and you won't get your consignment. She needs to be investigated for consumer fraud.

SELLERS BEWARE !!! The owner Tina is a scam artist thief and a liar! I've but two dresses on consignment back in 2012 and I have been following up with her ever since. Well one day after calling in to check to see if my dresses have been sold Tina claimed she tried to call me multiple times & never got through. I then asked her to tell me the number she has & of course she lied and told me a number not even close to mine! I then picked up the dress and try to take my other dress off consignment she said it would take a day for her to get it off the floor with there being so many dresses in the store I said okay a day went by & I call & called & called & each time no ones answered or she acted asthough she didn't even know what I was talking about I even told her the guy & number that was on my recipet & she claimed that was in another persons name! I'm all around frustrated with this place & wish she would get shut down

BUYER BEWARE!!! This shop should have a zero rating. They are very unprofessional in their business ethic. I am a business owner and as a business owner the objective to a successful business is to do whatever it takes to make that client happy. This business ethics are to just sell it and forget it. When it comes to a wedding dress, this business should of put their brains before money! That is what a genuine business owner would do!!! Fix the situation and then move on but fix the situation by either refunding every penny on the wedding dress or fix it the way it should have been done in the first place!! Very unprofessional!!!

A friend of mine put a deposit down on a dress she really liked. Owner promised she would get the stain out and after numerous visits the stsin was still there. They waited months for her dress. Still nothing got done. Now the lady is recanting on her. She trusted her word. She didnt think she needed to get thisnin writing. A good business person would have went out of their way to accommodate. If she tried to get the stsin out and couldnt she could have called and at least let her know.

Drove up there twice today and they were closed. They are supposed to open at 10am on Tuesdays.

How are you supposed to run a business if you are not open during your business hours?

I find it extremely difficult to try and find a dress when the online hours are different than the store hours. I came from 50 minutes away to find a dress, being told from the website that it opened at 10, to find they didn't open until 12 that day. I went to a different store, came back at 12:15 and the store was still not open. I come back the next day and they were close for lunch I'm assuming. Again, I drive 50 minutes just to show up to a closed store.

I went to pick up my dresses and I knew exactly which ones they were and after depositing $300 dollars the month before. And because I didn't have a paper they wouldn't give me them. They have horrible organization and people skills. You would think that they would be more kind since I drove an hour to get the dress.

I took all of my prom/homecoming dresses (6 total) to this store to sell on consignment back in 2009 when I graduated. I never heard anything from these people after that. I called and they would say that they had no "record" of me or my dresses. Horrible customer service experience all the way around.

I went in Rags to Riches on a whim. I walked out with my perfect (Davids Bridal) wedding dress. This dress seemed like it was made for me. Everyone said I looked like a porcelain doll in my beautiful dress. I agree! My wedding is over and I will now take my dress back on consignment so someone else will have beautiful everlasting photos and memories. Thank you once again for my memories... :)

I had to come in there and check it out. There was a lot to choose from and were quality. They are used dresses, but in excellent condition. I needed a dress for my brother's wedding.

I bought it for 135 and was high quality dress. Bight red, roushing, little sequence, and had a train. I had to get it dried clean as it had couple spots. Which was no biggie. This dress was a statement as what i just needed..i will come backSoon to check out their cocktail dresses

Sure is funny to read all of these reviews I've been shopping at rags to riches since I was in eighth grade and I just finished my senior year at Woodhaven and I bought every single dress from them for my homecoming and my prom the owner couldn't have been any nicer to me! the quality of the dresses I've gotten have always been amazing and their seamstress is great. after im done with my dresses i take them back in too, they put them on consignment and when they sell i get a fair percent back! I have recommended this store to so many people j know and they all have loved it to! All I have ever had from rags to riches was good luck I love this store!

You can buy cheap prom dresses but only leave your dress on consignment for less than 60 days. We brought our daughter's prom dress to be sold under consignment. There was a sign on the door will be back in 10 minutes - we ended up waiting over 40 minutes with many other customers and we received a lame excuse someone was suppose to cover the store but did not come in. The consignment states we would only get 40%. We wanted the owner to sell the the prom dress for $250 so we would get $100 but she priced it at $200 indicating it would be a fast sale (thus we get $80). We had high hopes as we actually had 2 people wanting to try on the dress while we were waiting to get the paperwork done. The owner promised she would call when it was sold or any change. We called back after 60 days and she stated the dress was still there at the same price. After a year we went into the store to get our dress - we heard a local school was having a resale offering 70% return on the price. We found the same dress but was now being sold for $250. More confusing the dress had lost crystals and material was damaged unlike ours which was in almost pristine condition. The owner said the dress we found was not ours. She sold ours and claims she called us twice in the last month. She sold the dress for only $140 - we got back only $56. She said she had the right to cut the price but I seem to recall she said only to $180 not go from $200 to $140 in one step. We argued that no one ever called us - we have voice mail. Once we got home we reviewed our phone records and verified they never called us. While we got scammed somone else got a great dress very cheap - at least it was a great shape when we dropped it off. The store has crammed the dresses on poles and they are getting damaged from rubbing against each other and letting the customers handle them.

Only reason I give one star is because I havee to. CLOSE THIS STORE. The lady was nice, but after I left I never got anything back. She jipt me 240! I gave my prom dress over a year ago now. Only reason I will ever go back is to get something back, otherwise I will not buy from there EVER again.

This place sucks! I took my prom dress and old homecoming dresses here so I could sell them. Well that was in like May of 2012. It's now July and I haven't heard anything from them yet. I understand thy may not have sold yet but when i call they answer and then I tell them my name and all that they put me on hold so they can "look it up" and they NEVER come back to the phone. Idk if they have a plan or if they do this to others but now when i call nobody ever picks up. Its starting to get really irritating. I'm going up there really soon and I will NOT be nice!

Shop owner is slightly condescending and rude. I wanted to see if I could consign my dresses at the shop. First when I came in, she didn't get to me, who happened to be the only person waiting behind the counter. The phone was also ringing off the hook and she seemed to not notice. A young child behind the counter greeted me with a smile and I waited. She insulted the dresses I brought in fairly loudly and I honestly felt embarrassed. The kid behind the counter even asked her "why did you say that to them?" as I was about to leave. She is honest and knows what she is looking for, but does not know how to be kind. I wouldn't suggest going here.

I would not recommend this store to anyone. The owner Tina cheated me out of money and lied. She's selling her items (for example, jeans) from $10-$17 and she basically gave me a $1 for each item and did not even tell me which items she kept! All she told me was she kept a couple items and they did not need any of the other items, when she really kept 8 of my items, 2 of which were brand new jeans with tags. She took my items to the back to sort through them and when she came back she told me that they only decided to keep a couple of my items and that I could take my other items back. I had originally brought in 23 items total to sell. She told me that I would be receiving $8.00 for the couple items they kept. That was fine because I thought she only kept a couple items, it looked like everything was there so at the time I didn't question her cheating me. When she gave me my merchandise back it was thrown in a messy heap in a laundry basket so it was difficult to sort through everything right there. When I got home and looked at my list of the items I had taken to be sold, I discovered she kept 8 of my items not just a couple. Most of which were name brand clothes, such as jeans, that still had the tags on them, hollister shirts, and casual wear. I drove all the way back to the store to tell her I would like my items she kept back and I would give the money in return. She tried to act like she didn't remember me coming in and then when she did remember she acted like she had no idea what I was talking about even though it had only been an hour later. I asked her to go look for them in the back but she said she didn't know where they were, even though I described each one in great detail. She would not refund my items nor would she give me any extra money for the items she kept. She is cheating people for their merchandise and is doing horrible business.

this place is a total dump heap & you can hardly walk around because there is so much crap everywhere. i went in to look for a dress with my sister & the owner lady was so rude she wouldnt even get off the phone with her mother to assist us. meanwhile her kids are all running around in there causing all kinds of chaos. what a joke!
