Our specialists provide care in our surgery, oncology, internal medicine, radiology, neurology/neurosurgery, ophthalmology, and CritiCare departments. Our Pet Rehabilitation service is run by a real physical therapist, not someone who took a quick seminar. Our Holistic medicine department includes two veterinarians who have completed special training to become certified veterinary acupuncturists. Our CritiCare department offers twenty-four hour admissions for urgent, critical or emergency patients, and provides continuous care including weekends and holidays. Our hospital's compassionate and expert medical team has years of experience in companion animal medicine, and they are dedicated to one thing -- helping your pets get well.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE - NOT HERE!

The reception area and people are nice, but don't let that fool you. Behind those walls is a totally different story. I brought my baby girl, a beautiful kittie there. A place where I thought she would be taken care of. Sadly, they are more interested in giving you a low/high price quote (that’s so overpriced it isn’t funny) that they ask for up front. Of course they want you to pay the higher price...then they say we'll give you a credit if it's warranted. Of course we do anything for our babies, they are our family and that's what they count on.

After my beautiful girl had a procedure done, the doctor left her right after the procedure. Yep, out the door.....no follow up, no procedure notes, no recheck of vital signs before sending her home. The "tech" was giving us "care instructions" and discharged her. She had been there for 4 hours after the procedure with no follow-up or attention. My baby had to go back in less than 24 hours to ICU. ICU….what a joke! They took her temp which was high after 10 minutes there...and then.....NOTHING done for 7 hours! This only got worse when they gave her an overdose of a strong narcotic which they could not reverse. The doctor called me and said her bp was dropping after the overdose and they were giving her fluids (so they said) but on the chart they started fluids an hour and a half after the phone call when it was too late. How can you say you're ICU...gee isn't that critical care? Yep, they totally neglected her until it was too late. Then they say..."there's nothing else that can be done"...you didn't do anything in the first place. My baby is an angel and with Jesus now.

I have never seen such non-caring doctors. If you don't care about animals (who are our children) don't work with them! Something needs to be done about the care they give….or lack thereof. It seems as though what’s most important to them is money.

Save your child and go somewhere else…you won’t regret it, like I do!

Please share this story with everyone you know that has a “family baby” in hopes to save another family from this pain. Southpaws just told me to “go through the 7 stages of grief”. How grossly unprofessional and not even show an owner the smallest gesture of kindness and understanding during this time of sadness and grief.

FYI…every owner is entitled to every page, every record/note and report so please get a copy for your own peace of mind so that you can see for yourself what care was actually given.

My dog was referred to Southpaws after a diagnosis of cancer. He has a very aggressive form of cancer. I was given a number of treatment options along with the expected outcomes from each treatment. The compassion and care they showed for both me and my dog was outstanding. Whenever I had a question, I got answers within a few hours. My dog is still doing well and although his prognosis is not good I am sure I got the best care for him that is available.

I brought my limping dog into Southpaws and after lots of money and xrays they couldn't find anythng wrong. I then took the dog to another referral and they correctly diagnosed a torn ligament. Southpaws is not a good place for a sick dog.

misdiagnosis

I brought my cat into the Southpaws emergency room. The vet there diagnosed the problem as an abscessed tooth and told me to bring her to an animal dentist. I did so. There was no abscessed tooth but while the dentist was examining her, the technician noticed that the cat had an abscessed gland on the other end of the cat. I stopped at Southpaws and asked for my $465 back. They refused. Apparently they feel that this kind of incompetence is acceptable.
