Butterfly Loft Salon and Spa opened on November 1, 2010, on Ventura Boulevard in Encino. Owners David Thurston and Alexis Thurston have taken a second-floor commercial space that was vacant for seven years and transformed it into an upscale salon resembling an urban loft, with high, exposed ceilings, polished concrete floors, and dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows that extend across the length of the salon, offering views of the Encino hills above and the hustle-bustle of Ventura Boulevard below.

I love this salon for so many reasons. Parking is easy the space is beautiful with open windows overlooking ventura boulevard. The receptionists are so hard working and helpful and easy to talk to. The vibe is really cool, And every single stylist in there is so talented and amazing and well educated. They also stay up to date on all the latest trends and fashion. I love going there.

It seems like all my friends get their hair done at Butterfly Loft, but for some reason I was sticking with my old stylist. I finally switched after reading an article about the salon in a magazine, where they were voted the best salon.

The salon looks amazing. It's big, open, lots of windows, great artwork, and it has a really cool vibe.

The stylists I switched to is Jenny. She's really great at what she does, she's down to earth, personable, and easy to chat with. She does my highlights and cuts.

I also see Sarah Michelle for my brows, and she gets them just right.

I rarely write reviews, but this place is very deserving.

I've going to this place off and on for about a year now because I live close by. It's convenient being on Ventura and close to home, but I wouldn't call it my favorite. I do like the look of the place, who ever the owner is has great taste when it comes to interior design. As for the stylists working there I have been to a few and they were all sweet and knowledgable. I wouldn't say they were the most professional-looking that I've seen. I've been to salons that must have had a dress code or maybe just extremely professional stylists because they seemed to all dress in-sync and were all dolled up funky yet professional looking. At this salon, there's a lot of jeans and sandals and greasy messy hair. If I was doing hair and trying to sell myself, I would have my hair done perfectly every day. The front desk was weak the last couple times I went in. They used to have a girl there who was super sweet, but I didn't see her the last time time I went. I had a conversation with her the first time I went in because I didn't know at that time I needed to call in advance for an appointment, but she explained to me the way they work there. She came and sat down with me at one of the couches and let me vent my week to her. You don't find many genuine people like that! All in all, if this place hired a better front desk staff again, instilled a dress code, and kept the place A LOT cleaner, maybe I would put this salon higher up on my list. And maybe a few more stars ;-)
