A Real Gem - A Good Chain Restaurant in Elk Grove, Go Figure!

I went to the Mikuni's in Folsom my first time going, but since I live in Elk Grove, I thought I would review that one. This is my absolute splurge. I am obsessed with Mikuni!!! I get the same thing ever time: citrus blossom, zig zag roll, and usually the puff daddy or I have had some other rolls (i don't particularly like raw rolls so I'll go for something cooked). I like that you don't have to like raw sushi to go there, they have great alternatives for people who like cooked rolls. (oh yea and try the deep fried calamari!!!)

****Special tip - I always sit at the sushi bar and watch them make the sushi, (great for a first date because you don't always have to talk and it's almost like a free show) but ask your sushi chef to suprise you and make you a special roll. Tell him what kind of things you like and he will make you his special favorite roll not even on the menu! I was made one with the otherside wrap a thin cucumber shell! It was the best roll I have had so far.

*****Another special tip, DONT ORDER TO GO. If you order to go, I guarentee it is not the same experience. My husband and I ordered a to go one time when I was sick but was craving Mikuni's. It ruined my previous experinces and I don't go back for a while. So no to go!

Excellent food! What can I say...the food was fresh, flavorful and the portions were good-sized. The service and ambiance were both very good, but fell short of excellent. Overall, it was very good and I would recommend this Mikuni's to anyone!
