Rented a Toro RT-600 trencher. Doesn't come with a trailer and they don’t have a trailer big enough to haul, so I had to make those arrangements separately. Scheduled a week in advance for Saturday AM pickup but was called Wednesday stating I have to pick up Friday as they were closed Saturday so I burned a vacation day to pick up early. Why would they take a reservation for a day they were closed? Noticed a puddle of Hydraulic fluid on my trailer when unloading and also called to let them know the fuel tank was only half full, not filled as they claimed. Found it had a major leak on the left outrigger and the chain seemed to have a lot of slack. Chain jumped the track after about 60 minutes of trenching though loose soil and it took three big guys 90 minutes to get it back on. Used the backhoe to dig a few holes before resuming trenching for about another 15 minutes before the chain jump the track again. Another hour putting it back on, then it jumped almost immediately. Strapped the chain up and got about 25% of a job done via the backhoe over a 3 day weekend that shouldn’t have taken more than about 4 hours total. After returning Tuesday AM, they told me I could have called them but they were closed all labor day weekend and would have received the voicemail about the time I arrived to drop it off. $470 rental, $100 in fuel, $200 trailer rental, 1 vacation day, and a 3 day holiday weekend wasted. I brought it back with the same fuel level I received and the apathetic employee acted like he was doing me a favor by not charging me to fill the tank. He actually had the gall to ask if I wanted to reserve if again for the following weekend. No.
