I added an addition to my home, but I could not afford to have hvac done as part of the install. I went to Steve, the owner of Econotemp on Belmont in Downers Grove. Steve advised me as to what kind and size boiler and parts were needed for the in the concrete radiant heating. He also helped with the central air conditioning air handler and compressor along with some custom made sheet metal. I did the install myself and had Econotemp check everything and finish the hookups including installing the freon in the a/c. (I had the return pipe hooked up to the supply side of the boiler. Fixed that.) All the costs were reasonable. Advice was free and correct. It had now been over 15 years and everything still works fine! Steve and Econotemp earned 5 stars. My 7 year old Trane furness failed of cause on a Sunday with temps around 32. HVAC service tech wants $250 alone to come out and could not guarantee he had parts. Found what was faulty and Steve had everything in stock for a reasonable price. Steve was very helpful. It is good to have someone like this in the hour of need.

My furnace would not work and I called a local contractor (Perfect Home Services) to look at it. They wanted 1,000 to replace my smartvalve although the technician never tested it and I told him I could hear it was working properly. I went to Econotemp on New Year's Eve and they helped me diagnose the problem. The smartvalve was fine, but the flame rod was broken. As a result of Econotemp's staff taking the extra time and effort to help me diagnose the problem, they saved me $950.00. The staff is honest and helpful and takes time to explain the parts, test them for you, and even offers home visits. I would never trust another contractor again unless I talked to the staff at Econotemp first!

Parts department open 7 days saved me big $'s in service call when my glow plug failed on a Sunday! I've shopped here many times in the past 12 years and they've always been very helpful to the do-it-your-self home repair type.
