I don't know why it has taken me so long to write a review for Pets on Broadway because i have had nothing but great experiences here. I am definitely a girl on a budget but i don't think the prices here are outlandish by any means.

My most recent experience there was somewhat emergent and Dr Akres could not have put us any more at ease. He treated our dog like she was his own and was great at explaining exactly what was happening with our beloved pup and what our course of action was.

Thank you Pets on Broadway!

Outstanding Care!

From the moment I walked through the door, I knew these people cared about me and my pet. I have only wonderful things to say about this clinic. I especially love Dr. Griffin, he is a very concerned and compassionate veterinarian. I recommend them to all my friends and family.

Helping homeless dogs

For almost 10 years Pets on Broadway has offered very generous discounts and the best medical care to the homeless dogs that have come into our rescue group. We know that the caring staff, Dr. Griffin and Dr. Scolnick have gone above and beyond to help the seriously ill dogs we have had come into rescue. Because of their generosity we have been able to help many dogs that otherwise would have been euthanized in animal shelters. We cannot say enough good things about them, their excellent standards of care, and their support of homeless animals in our community.

Dr. Mac Griffin is a rare breed...He cares!!

If you are looking for a vet who still has heart and is a great surgeon...I have found this to be Dr. Mac Griffin. He came to my house on a Sunday because I had to have my 12 yr. old dog euthanized. Being able to do this in the comfort of our home and having my kids there meant so much. Dr. Griffin has been my Vet for almost 13 years and I would follow him anywhere, as would many other people I know.

His partner in the business, Dr. Sheryl Scolnick is NOT warm and fuzzy at all and it is too bad that Dr. Mac has to be categorized in the same star rating as her. Dr. Griffin is a professional in every sense of the word and seems to love what he does and it shows!

Another Vet there is Dr. Jamie Ackers whom I have seen on occasion when Dr. Griffin was not available. I found him also to be very caring and informative. I believe that Dr. Griffin is the only one that does critical care surgery there and he is one of the best. Dr. Scolnick is a Dermatologist and only deals with skin conditions and simple stuff. Both of my dogs have had to have very involved surgeries.... my little terrier was hit by a car and was near death but somehow Dr. Mac saved her and I was told by the receptionist that he even stayed the night in the hospital to monitor her condition. My other dog, a Newfoundland, had to have an ACL surgery done which was very involved. The aftercare and rehabilitation that Dr. Mac helped us with at home and at the clinic was above and beyond...we are so thankful to have peace of mind knowing that Dr. Griffin is always available ....he even gives out his cell phone number !!

Excellent, 5-Star Care and Love !

I so TOTALLY disagree with the prior assessments of Pets on Broadway. I took my beloved cat, 'Joshua, there for a few years while his kidneys were slowly deteriorating. Dr. Scolnick explained what was happening, and how subcutaneous fluids could enable Joshua to live a better life. He also received PRN meds for arthritis when his legs would get stiff.

Each time I called about a concern, getting another bag of fluid -- anything -- I was greeted and treated with concern, compassion and yes, love. The staff at Pets on Broadway always cared for Joshua in the manner that I did. I even put a little Santa hat on him one Christmas and gave Dr. Scolnick a picture in a frame. He now is proudly memorialized, along with many other pets who have passed on, on a shelf in the lobby reserved for pets who have died.

The day Joshua died, the staff couldn't have been MORE caring. He had been in pain and both of us got no sleep the night before. Because the staff had gotten to know Joshua so well, they were even crying -- everyone was. I was taken into their special room, and Dr. Aiken asked me if I wanted to have Joshua get a shot of morphine as he was pretty agitated by the pain. It calmed him within a minute, and I was able to hold my sweet boy for a half an hour to say 'Goodbye'. How many veterinarians would have that depth of compassion? I feel that they are few and far between.

Before Joshua received his final shot, one of the vet techs came in and did a paw imprint that I have and cherish. I didn't ask her to do that. Joshua's journey to the Rainbow Bridge couldn't have been more loving. Dr. Scolnick also gave me a copy of the much-loved prose, 'Rainbow Bridge'. Again, I didn't ask for this. She gave it from the kindness of her heart.

****************************************************************************

I now have a 14 yo female cat, Angel, who has also always received excellent care at Pets on Broadway. Purrcy, my polydactyl orange tabby, joined our 'family' shortly after Joshua's passing. When I went to visit a friend in Texas the summer before last, Angel and Purrcy enjoyed a little cabin of sorts where they could pass through the middle and visit each other. I know that staff also kept a log of how they were doing, eating, pooping/peeing, and socializing. I NEVER worried, as I knew that they were in excellent hands.

*****************************************************************************

I have one last story which is a testament to how I feel about Dr. Scolnick -- I feel she is always fair and honest when it comes to my pets and another pet I brought to her. This cat had been attacked by a pit bull and was unable to walk the next morning. I told the owner about Pets on Broadway. Luckily, the cat's leg was just swollen and he received medication to clear it. Dr. Scolnick told the owner that she did not recommend x-rays and thought the medication would get this sweet cat good as new in a few days. It touched my heart that Dr. Scolnick even gave this kitty a kiss on the nose before I took him back home.

So, I certainly have a much different opinion about Pets on Broadway. We are all entitled to each of ours but me, I'm sticking with Pets on Broadway. They love my pets and have always provided the best care.

I hope that this post will extinguish the one-star rating that this animal hospital has so unfairly received.

Dr Scolnick only sees dollar signs $$$

I became very disappointed with Dr Scolnick when she told me that my dog needed a $450 ultrasound on her liver without first looking in my dog's mouth. I had a bad feeling about Dr Scolnick. She was always wanting to do the most expensive tests before doing the simplest things. She must have thought I was a complete idiot. I finally diagnosed my own dog. I noticed that after I rubbed her face, she went and sulked in the corner for 20 minutes. My dog had an abscessed tooth! (That is the FIRST thing a good vet should check for btw.) If you don't have lots of money to waste, and you don't have time for mis-diagnosis, STAY AWAY FROM Dr. Scolnick!!! Dr Mac Griffin, who shares this office, is a very good vet. I think you if you ask for him you can see him.
