When C.S. and Avice McCorkle began McCorkle Nurseries in 1942, the company offered a retail, landscape and growing operation to the developing community around Augusta, Ga. The post-World War II housing boom would propel that business to its initial leadership in the local market. McCorkle Nurseries operates offices in Dearing and Atlanta, Ga., as well as Marion, N.C. A sales and distribution operation is located in Mobile, Ala. McCorkle Nurseries markets more than 4 million plants annually from its growing operation delivering to more than 1,800 customers in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic United States. The growing operation consists of a 700-acre farm of which 400 is currently in production
