Foodies and aspiring bakers/cooks will be in heaven here. They have a wide array of cooking utensils, restaurant-grade pots and pans and lots of interesting items to stock your pantry with.

I only bring so much cash here and NEVER my credit card...

I woke up on a Saturday and decided that what I really needed was a long off-set spatula for my baking needs. That's it. Nothing else. Living in West Hollywood, I could have gone to: Bed, Bath and Beyond, Wiliams-Sonoma, Sur La Table or Crate and Barrel. Instead, we piled in the car and drove south. Way south....to Culver City. I cannot IMAGINE buying my cooking or baking tools at any place other than Surfas. Even though I went there for the one item, I still spent over an hour perusing the shelves for things that I might need in the future or things that were too good to resist (2 pounds of the darkest, richest baking chocolate, anyone???). I walked out of there with my spatula....along with an additional $75 dollars worth of merchandise. Um, the spatula was $4 dollars. The only thing that I wish they carried are larger, bulk-items of food staples, like pastas and beans - instead of the small, dainty bags that are good for one small dinner party. Other than that, if I were Andy Warhol, this place would be my Studio 54.
