The Lake County Superior Court has general jurisdiction and may hear most civil and criminal cases. It maintains a criminal division that handles traffic matters, misdemeanors and felonies. The court also has a civil division that issues orders for evictions, including emergency possessory actions and landlord and tenant disputes. The Lake County Superior Court has a staff of administrators, magistrates, bailiffs, court reporters and supervisors. It also has a probation department and is located in Crown Point, Ind.
