Dr Sylvestri has been our family dentist for as long as I can remember. Unlike some, he is wise enough to tell you that certain procedures are best performed by a specialist in doing that procedure. If so he will give you recommendations of specialists that he has confidence will give excellent care and he has heard positive feedback from patients he has made referrals to that specialist. He is also willing to give you several options if available rather than recommend the most expensive one.

First things first, Dr. Silvestri himself is great. He listens to any questions you have and does good work. However, after having gone to him for a few years, I've decided to go to a new dentist b/c I just cannot take dealing with his creepy hygienist/dental assistant. She is the person who actually cleans your teeth, and has repeatedly asked me inappropriately personal questions, and provided me with unsolicited personal information about her own life, all while I can barely talk b/c she is working on my teeth. It's like being a captive audience to a disturbing speech. I've been forward with her in the past to get her to knock it off, but I think she is just eccentric and doesn't see anything wrong with her statements. The fact that she is there year after year tells me the dentist likes her and wants to keep her on, so I've just decided to go elsewhere instead of keep dealing with this bizarre event.
