The Coralville Police Department works to provide a safe and secure environment, safeguards lives and property, preserves peace, and maintains law and order. It operates patrol and investigation units. The department maintains an animal control division that provides shelter to stray animals, assists in the adoption of pets and issues citations against the complaints of animal nuisance. The Coralville Police Department also issues the copies of accident reports and traffic citations, as well as offers vacation house check and fingerprint identification services. It supports the Crime Stoppers program, which assists in the identification of criminals through anonymous tips supplied by the public. The department has a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team that responds to high-risk law enforcement situations. In addition, the Coralville Police Department supports a citizens police academy and a ride along program. It is located in Coralville, Iowa.
