When my boyfriend decided to propose, he was pleased with the friendly staff at Kay's, but unfortunately that is where the positive aspects of their business end. The day after getting engaged, we had to go back to get my ring sized, which required them sending it out for 2 weeks. Unforunate, but not a big deal. When it got back, they immediately had to have it sent back out because there were deep knicks and scratches all over the band and around the setting, which required another 2 week wait. I expect there to be some wear and tear scratches on the band when I've been wearing it for a while, but there is no excuse for that to be on a brand new ring. We went back to the store when my ring was back in, and upon examining the ring, the diamond was tilted in the setting... Another 2 weeks of waiting. On our fourth and final time trying to pick up my ring, and after 6 weeks of waiting, the diamond was STILL loose in the setting, and they needed to send it out again to ensure that the diamond wouldn't fall out. The offered no explanation and either couldn't or wouldn't answer my questions about how so many things could go wrong with one ring. Each question I asked was answered with "We'll just send it back out and hope it comes back right." Not quite the answer I was looking for, so after waiting 6 weeks to be able to wear my engagement ring, we got our money back and went to a different jeweler. Also at the time we were leaving, there was a man there who paid for an 18kt white gold bracelette for his wife, and was given a sterling silver one that had turned her wrist green. I know mistakes happen, but that many coming out of one store is unacceptable.
