It's difficult to find a place that has both great coffee and good breakfasts, not just cloying franchise breads. A great setting along with it is almost too much to ask. A friend and I dropped by Cucuru recently, in Old Colorado City. The setting was intimate and funky, with cozy outdoor seating next to a park and seating in the gallery, where a colorful collection of art was hanging. Our breakfast in the gallery, with soft classical music in the background, took the breakfast burrito to a place we didn't know it could go. The usual flour tortilla hid a perfectly seasoned blend of eggs, avocados, cheese and tomatoes. It was garnished with garden fresh slices of fresh tomatoes drizzled with a bit of oil and fresh ground pepper, along with their punchy homemade salsa. The mocha was a tasty balance of coffee and chocolate, the mint green tea was refreshing and the waitress, who doubled as the cook, was delightful. We can't wait to go back for tapas and jazz in the evening.
