Provided by SuperpagesWhen I shop, I like to wander the aisles and see what's around. Of course I'll have something in mind that I'm there for, but I also enjoy browsing. Yesterday, I went in to buy some boric acid, and I asked the person near the door where it was. He gave me some directions and I started in to the store's interior and was then told by another of your associates I would need to leave my back pack at the front.
I ride a bike, so my back pack acts as my purse, but fine, I returned to the front of the store and left it. I was starting to feel annoyed. Then as I went back to browse, I walked past the aisle where I was told to turn and the person who initially gave me directions yelled at me that I missed the turn. At this point I turned back to him and said rather loudly, "STOP!" It is the only time I raised my voice during this whole incident, and I was loud because I wanted to be firm.
And the woman who sent me back with my backpack immediately jumped in and called me rude. Fair enough, but then she suggested I leave your store. I told her I came in to buy some boric acid and I would leave once I got that. So she grudgingly gave me more directions and began following me through the store, still telling me how rude she thought I was. Imagine that.
And it turns out that both she and he gave me wrong directions. She claimed she thought I asked for lye. Which means she doesn't listen very well. How do you mistake 4 syllables for 1; boric acid sounds nothing like lye. They don't share a single letter between them.
She practically dared me to report this, something I never once threatened to do during the encounter, even as she continuously berated me. I never once used inappropriate language. I had merely raised my voice to let your people know I wanted to be left alone. But no, she followed me through the store as if I were a thief, even handing me a yellow card that insinuated she thought I was a shop-lifter. I tore it up and put the pieces in my pocket. I'm not a shoplifter or a litterer.
I went ahead and bought the boric acid, once I was finally able to locate it.
But I will never return to your store. I will share this story with others. In fact I already have, and I opened this account just so I could post this review at the suggestion of your associate who doesn't understand how to de-escalate a minor incident, instead, creating an inhospitable shopping environment which left bystanders a bit confused too, judging from their expressions. She really overreacted.
I didn't bother getting her name. She was so certain that you would take her side in this, and I suppose you might. Doesn't matter. I'm never coming back and if I can help anyone else to avoid your staff's harassment in the future, I will keep spreading the word.

Provided by SuperpagesI love our Bon Ace Hardware! People there are always so helpful and friendly. I was shocked this weekend when I went to another Ace in town and discovered quite a contrast to the service, ideas, and how-to's that I am accustomed to receiving at my neighborhood Ace. Major kudos to the paint department! If you are a do-it-your-selfer like me, then I hope you appreciate this little jewel of an Ace Hardware that we have in our neighborhood. It it about as close to the atmosphere of the independent hardware stores from the days of old as one can get!

Provided by SuperpagesI went to this store and found the service very unacceptable, the manager was rude and the staff seemed to have better things to do than to help me, so I went to a different Ace on the westside of town and found them to be very knowledgable and very very helpful, so while this store was unsatisfactory, they are not all bad, I'm going to the westside from now on.
