Not much to do in coloma! Went with 4th graders. The only cool place was the blacksmith and mining down by the river.

Seeing the site where gold was discovered in California is interesting. I particularly enjoyed watching the volunteer blacksmiths make some tourist items, like a botle opener.

We had been here years before our girls were born but decided to take them here as this is a definite part of California and US history. The admission was very inexpensive and the tours, exhibits, and relics were informative and captivating.

The only drawback was that the park was undergoing maintenance but it will be that much better when it is completed. You would do well to go when it is cooler as Sacramento can have stifling heat.
