I've been taking all four of my children to Trappe Pediatrics, as they arrived, for 14 years. They have seen my kids at their best and their worst. They've diagnosed a kidney infection and sent me to CHOP with a newborn as well as sent me to specialists when I felt other issues could be more serious. They've also told me, in a professional manner, that I was overly concerned and shouldn't worry (I did anyway) about various things. My view is this: Trappe Peds is the only place I'm comfortable for the everyday, meet-your-needs doctor. If I ever feel something is more serious, I ask where they would go for a specialist.

Refusal to see our 19 month daughter...extremely rude!

Our daughter came down with diarrhea Friday night and by Saturday morning was having an episode every hour she was not taking fluids very well and children in her class at daycare were diagnosed with c-diff which as some may know can be very serious so I contacted them first thing Saturday morning and all I was instructed to do was leave a message for the nurse and they would go from there. The nurse did not call me back until 10 min until closing and only said she has a GI infection and we don't see patients with diarrhea as it is too risky to other patients ( sure if the typical wait is an hour past your appointment time) I of course did not understand why they couldn't schedule me for the last appointment if the day anything to get my child seen i would do when I asked for my daughter to be tested for c-diff given a child In her class had it she said we don't just test for that right away after several minutes of insisting she said fine come and get the collection cups and you have to fill them and bring them back and it will take up to a week for results- so I go get the cups and my child gets progressively worse to the point that on Tuesday she was creaming in pain and arching her back like her stomach was cramping so I of course had called first thing in the morning to again try to get an appointment but still the same thing leave a message for the nurse who by 11:45 still had not called back so I call again screaming child in the background insist that my child needs to be seen as she is in PAIN they transfer me to the same nurse who says she is just being fussy that's what sick kids do I of course say no I know when my child is in pain and when she is fussy and she is clearly in pain hence the intense screams she again refuses to set an appointment stating again diarrhea patients are not allowed so I say if you won't see her them my only option is the hospital? She says of course not you don't need to go there it's a simple GI infection by this time I am so mad I say how do you know when you won't see her?! She replied and I quote "fine I will break policy and set an appointment and probably catch hell but you can come in and see the dr and all they are going to tell you is I am right it's just a GI infection she told me the time and instructed my that I was to stand at the door until they let me in at this point I know I will never again be able to trust the care given if this employee can be so unprofessional and well rude not to mention put my daughters health at risk so I of course do not keep that appointment but instead take her where she will be evaluated without prejudice and go in to request her records to get her started at another practice. I explain what happened and write in the form poor service refused treatment later in the day a Dr Finch who had never treated my daughter called to see why I wasn't satisfied with the service I explained the entire experience and all he could say was well we got you an appointment didn't we? Obviously I shouldn't have to battle to have an office see a severely sick child? So he says well I'm not calling you to beg you to come back or anything- really this is something a professional doctor should be saying? How about I am sorry we didn't see your daughter who has been a patient since birth but instead chose to take the low road of defensive and rude. At the end of the day I am thankful that she will be ok but not due to the care of Trappe pediatrics but because I refused to believe in a simple GI infection Do not put your child at risk go elsewhere!

Don't ignore the negative reviews, I did and my daughter paid the price. They are obviously overly busy and while that means little when your going in for shots but when you go in, like we did when my daughter injured her knee, that same overworked office had the results for my daughter's MRI and didn't call me, they didn't call anyone. It was after I called (for the second time) that they informed me that she had a torn meniscus. The surgery went well and I learned that the people at C.H.O.P. are twice as busy, twice as friendly, and twice as fast as Trappe Peds could dream of being one their best day. Don't be fooled, busy doesn't mean competent.
