The New Jersey Water Supply Authority, also known as NJWSA, provides water for approximately 2 million residents of New Jersey. The authority was created under the New Jersey Water Supply Act in 1981 to operate existing state water supply facilities and to develop other projects as recommended in the State Water Supply Master Plan. Its Round Valley Reservoirs System and Delaware and Raritan Canal Water Transmission Complex offer the basic source of water supply to public and private water utilities. The New Jersey Water Supply Authority s Manasquan Water Treatment Plant utilizes three clarification and filtration package units for particulate removal in the treatment process. The authority s Raritan Highlands Farmland Preservation Program helps to preserve farmland and protects the quality of water supply for residents. Its team of public members represents the agricultural community, private watershed associations, and industrial and residential water users.
