Thomas Hill Energy Center, established in 1966, operates coal generation and distribution facilities, and has a thermal steam plant and electrical generating unit that generate more than 1,153 megawatts of power. The center recycles fly ash, a byproduct of coal combustion used in making concrete and as a soil stabilizer. It employs over 250 people and is owned and operated by the Associated Electric Cooperative that provides wholesale power to regional and local electric cooperative systems throughout Missouri, northeast Oklahoma and southeast Iowa serving more than 800,000 customers. Thomas Hill Energy Center is located in Clifton Hill, Mo.
