Beware of Dishonest work. We were out of town for the week of Thanksgiving when our toilets and showers at home started to backup and overflow on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, 11/28/14. We had 2 grown sons, a daughter-in-law, and toddler at home when it happened, so they called to notify us. We decided to look online to see if we could have the problem fixed without driving home from Texas. When we entered our
information in to Home Advisor we quickly received a call back from J&B
Septic. Since it was 11:00 at night, we were impressed by the quick
response, and felt relieved that we found someone to be able to fix the problem
so quickly.

On Wednesday, J&B Septic came
out to the house, dug up a larger than necessary section of the yard to get to
the septic opening, and also pulled up the sump pump from inside the
house. We were told by J&B Septic that our septic
tank had inferior parts, the filter
had floated off, and a new septic line was going to have
to be laid. The quote was $4,000
but could be as high as $8,000. We were told that because of security reasons we could not pay with a
credit card. When my husband said that his sons did not have that kind of
cash, he was asked if he could get the
money from a friend or neighbor.
My husband told them that he wanted to wait until we could drive back home
to decide what to do and told them to pack up and leave. Shortly after
that my husband received a text message from the worker saying that he was
sorry if we might have misunderstood the original quote. The job was going to cost $2800, not $4,000.

We drove 13 hours back home on
Thanksgiving day. We found a company that was able to quote us specific
(and reasonable) prices for the work that needed to be done. The
septic tank was in good working order, the filter had not "floated
off", there was no need to lay a new septic line, and everything would
have been fully operational, but a T-rod had been broken off and was laying on
top of the tank. The part had been intentionally broken off.
Even if J&B had laid an entirely new septic line it would not have solved
the problem because the problem was a collapsed pipe coming out of the house
that connected to the septic tank. So, we could have potentially spent
$8,000 and the problem still would not have been fixed.

There is much to be said about the lack of
knowledge regarding the septic tank itself, but I am more bothered by the lack
of integrity and honesty from your company. On Home Advisors website, it
states that J&B Septic "chose to work in this industry because “We are
trying to restore integrity to the industry." We were clearly being taken advantage of by
J&B Septic with no integrity on their part. The workers knew that we
were obviously in a bind and that we were hoping to get the plumbing problem
fixed before Thanksgiving. They also knew we were 13 hours away from
home.

Once this guy's septic clean-out kid got a tractor in our yard and the lid off of my septic system and the tank exposed, then he decides to triple even his holiday rate! Quoted $850 due to the holiday, then, once he had me in a bind he said he wouldn’t honor his rate and would charge me $2600 or leave me with an open septic tank. I’m embarrassed I allowed him to get me in that position. I had mentioned that I had tenants moving in later that afternoon. I left myself in a bind and gave him all the information he needed to take advantage of me. He simple refused to honor his agreement or any other arrangement other than to take another $1800 from me.

beware of J&B septic in Clevel...

beware of J&B septic in Cleveland,Ga. we called them to get a price and they quoted us a price. They told us it would cost $ 250.00. They came out and then the price changed. They told us we needed a treatment and that would cost us $ 1000.00 dollars . ok and then they kept going up on the price. It ended up costing us $2000.00 dollars and was asking for more money and we said no. They were not here long, all they had to do was pump it out. they did no digging, the septic tank was already uncovered. People watch out for them,They will give you a cheap price and then when they come to your house the price will go up.They are far from being honest. just Beware and don't get ripped off like we did
