We hired A-Tech after a previous installer failed to do a professional job. Sadly these guys also failed to do a pro job. (Why is it SO hard to get good help here in Portland?!) They installed 2 different (unintentional) colors on a seam right in front of the window. I asked why they hadn't caught that at the shop. I said you have to see it in daylight to really see the colors and how they would look together in front of a window. He told me that the cutter is right in front of a window so he did see it in daylight. (This turned out to be a lie. One of many. We ended up going out to the shop to pick out a remnant and the cutter was nowhere near a window. He's under fluorescent lighting.) Anyway, I was not at all happy with the way it looks. Right there in front of a sunny kitchen window there's a seam joining 2 very different colored Caesar stone slabs.



Now I detest Caesar stone. You see huge band marks from how they stored it. These marks will not come out. Every fingerprint shows and will not come out. It's dull, not at all like the sample. Honestly, it's crap. It takes forever to get it even remotely clean. I absolutely hate it. However THAT part is not his fault. I chose it from a very misleading sample. His responsibility was to cut it right and know where to put the seams.



Anyway, it was obvious that this was a sub-par job and he said he felt badly so he gave us a few hundred back and offered to do the countertop for the small sink area in our laundry room for free. He said we could come out to the shop and choose a remnant. And while I still hate my kitchen countertop I thought I'd accept his offer anyway since he was making an effort. We drove all the way out there and chose a remnant. We bought a new sink. Eventually he came out to take the measurements and bring the sink back to his shop so the stone would be cut correctly. Turns out the sink the company delivered was the wrong size. Jeff, being the pro, should've caught that. When his crew came out to install it they caught it and apologized saying that yes, Jeff SHOULD have caught that. (Jeff misses a lot apparently.) Mind you this is going on SIX months now. SIX months waiting for him to honor his word.



SO, we bought another sink and told Jeff we were ready for him to take measurements and to just choose any old remnant he has that looks similar to the one we chose before. No word. He just stopped responding. He didn't answer our calls or our emails. Just, crickets. Then I decide to hire someone else to do the laundry room since I've been without a laundry room sink for a couple of months now. I told Jeff to just give us a full refund for the botched kitchen counter and let's be done with it. No response. Crickets. I was trying to be nice by accepting his offer. I still hate my kitchen countertop and I know it will have to be replaced. Which means the tile work will have to be replaced as well. This is costing us a lot of money not to mention time. I don't understand why he refuses to honor his word. HE was the one who suggested it in the first place. I would much rather have a kitchen countertop installed correctly. I guess we'll have to litigate. BUYER BEWARE!
