Paiva Farms is basically two separate entities, James Paiva Hulling and Paiva Hulling & Shelling. Jim Paiva farms and manages almond, prune and walnut crops for landowners, as well as his own personal properties. From late August through September, his farming operation is contracted by many area farmers to harvest their almond crop and truck the product to Paiva Hulling & Shelling for processing. Paiva Hulling & Shelling services more than 200 growers within a 120-mile radius of the plant. In 2004, the company hulled more than 82.2 million pounds of field run and shipped out 13.7 million pounds of in shell and 14.25 million pound of meats to growers. The company s main clients are almond growers interested in having their crops harvested, trucked, hulled only, hulled and shelled or just shelled. James Paiva Hulling is located in Chico, Calif.
