They treat you and your animals like slaves. Took my pet in for work charged me and didn't do a damn thing and threatened me when I spoke up about it. Plus they treat you like a slave make you wait in your car for hours ... TF is this 2020???? If you care about your precious animal don't take em here... They sure as hell aren't cheap either that's a lie. Take you precious to a real animal hospital he'll that's what I have to do now. Scam artist

After reading several reviews, I have to agree with the others that it takes a long time in the waiting area. I'm very unhappy that my dog died and they never called me that night to tell me. I had to call to see how he was doing after his surgery, which never took place because he was dead. One of the doctors said something about no doctor was there during the night time. They are cheaper then the other facilities, but a what expense. YOUR DEAD ANIMAL!!! They have too much going own and can't really focus on your pet because they have so many other animals coming in for treatment..

This is a terrible place. My missing cat was brought to this place last Sunday. I went there on the same day after knowing this information. Their system showed my cat was in cage 44, but my cat was not there. Afterwards, they spoke with their supervisor, and then gave me another explanation: they hold each stray cat for 4 days (my cat was sent in on Sunday and I went on Thursday, exact four days) and then send my cat to some rescue teams or other shelters, and cannot disclose any information to me (even if my cat was there a few hours ago). After my repeated request, they gave a list of ~30 shelters, and said they could send the cat to one of them and I have to call each one of them. In addition, they are likely to send the cat to a rescue team, whose information cannot be disclosed to me. I have never had this ridiculous experience. Also, their condition is disgusting. Pees and poops everywhere inside. The people there seems don't know what to do. Please stay away from this place if you love animals

My two precious kitties were taken from me by the village because there was an electrical fire at my house and given to AWL. I had two weeks, I was told, to redeem them, but they were adopted out before the two weeks was up, I did call on June 9th and was told that they were being treated for some sort of respiratory infection; I called on June 10th and was advised by a staffer that they were already gone. I could get no further information. Now I am brokenhearted but no one there seems to care.

STAY AWAY from this place!! Dont listen to any of the other reviews. They treat animals very bad. Yell at them when you are not watching, pick up dogs by the collar, dont clean up the cages that well, and just a very poor place to take your animal. The doctors or Vets are nice and do a good job, but all the other people are really really bad. The vet techs do not care about animals, they choke them and yell at them when you are not looking...STAY AWAY Not to mention it takes forever to be seen, and have to wait hr's after that to get meds and pay your bill. Very unorganized. And you dont save that much money, if you can afford the extra 10-20 bucks go somewhere else!

my doggie

I brought my dog in for a fractured leg. they put a cast on him for 2 weeks. I paid for an ex ray at the 2 week period. She took my dog, took the cast off. I never spoke to a doctor, never seen the second ex ray. They just handed him to me and sent me on our way. The dog is not any better!!I'm pissed!!!

AVOID THE CLINIC!!!!

The tiny bit of money you might save isn't worth the long long wait for doctors too overwhelmed to give proper treatment. My cat was diagnosed with diabetes but I wasn't told his kidneys were in renal failure. I would however adopt a pet and get it out of that stinky messy disgusting place they claim they clean constantly. Yea, right.

Lots of animals!

This place was so crowded when we went there yesterday! We were looking for another dog to ad to our family and this was definitely the place to go! They had animals everywhere...bunnies in the front lobby, birds in one of the side rooms, and when you went in the back, holy cow! There were probably over 100 dogs in their big room and then about 100 dogs and cats in the hall and side rooms! Plus all the pets waiting to see the vet. It was a madhouse! But we found the perfect puppy for us! I like how they let you bring your other dog there to meet the new pet to make sure they will get along. She is fitting in perfect with all of us and we already love her so much! This place could probably use more workers or volunteers. If I had the time, I would definitely help out. I would reccommend everyone to go there and adopt a pet or volunteer or donate!

Margie

I am so appalled by Animal Welfare League's action. My 18 yr old daughter adopted a dog from their Chicago Ridge facility. They lied about the health and age of the dog. They told my daughter one thing then when she went to the vet she found out different. They allowed her to pay and adopt a sick dog with no parent. a phone call approval that i the parent knew nothing about the adoption proceedure till the final phonecall. The vet advised my daughter to return the dog. His surgeries were a disaster, his age was older than advised. A 18 year old girl couldn't should'nt take care of this pet. They took advantage of a young emotional naive girl. Took her money, would not return it. My daughter is heartbroken. Shame on them.

patches, the dog that was losing his ability to walk and run from being a large breed by playing

The vet staff showed no fear in treatments by showing him with respect when Patchy went for xrays . No straps, no shots to put him out. I fact it only too 15 mins for them and the small (less than 100 lbs)staff aid sai she loved him because he was so well behaved. Both prior to and adfter surgery, staff members stayed late for both the drop off and pick up after his surgery. Patty had a few rugh spots in recovery but followed the plan. He gets stronger every day and other vets who have seen it complement the work and the recovery., You sometimes have to wait for the best. Thanks Linda. You have a great staff

Your support goes a long way

this is a wonderful shelter, they have many animals although it is packed and takes time to process adoption papers, I would recommend it, the best shelter that I visited so far.

Got my Puggle there

i adopted my puggle, Bugsy here and they really stood behind him. he had cherry eye and they did his surgery at no cost to me. I payed only $50.00 for him which encluded all his shots. he has turned out to be the sweestest dog ever and my grandson's best friend. They have ALOT of animals that need homes and really do a very good job considering how many animals they have.

Horrible experience

This is the worst animal shelter you can go to. My dog was hit by a car and it took me two weeks of going to the shelter every other day and leaving flyers to find out he died on the spot. He had his collar on him and noone even bothered to notify me about his death. I spent two weeks searching for him, until finally I went back into the shelter and this assistant had the nerve to tell me that they had called me (but did not leave any message) but noone answered. Please keep away from this shelter, i just feel sorry for all the animals that are being brought there, its filthy and horrible. I don't know who is handling their donations but there not being used for the animals wellbeing. Thank you......
