Hand's down greatest city comic store ever

as an old timer - well 45 anyway - and originally from NY, Chicago Comics feels like an ORGANIZED Forbidden Planet back in the day.... The CC help is awesome - they know all their subscribers by name; my books are pulled out and waiting by the time I walk from the front door to the checkout counter. Love these guys.

This place is great, it has all your mainstream comics as well as indie comics to little self published zines. They occasionally have authors and artists come in to sign. Its a great place, and the workers are friendly.

If there is anything you need or want in the culture that is comic books and fan boy stuff this is the place to go. I have bought so much stuff there that wasnt even comic book related, and a lot of stuff that was. I have been able to bring friends in there who arent into comics at all and they arent bored, there is plenty to look at and browse through for everyone. If you do bring kids though keep a close eye on them because there is a more adult section that they could walk into. But other than that its very open to anyone.

A decent selection of comic books and related paraphernalia, but I agree with the other reviewers, the staff totally give off that condescending hipster vibe, and they'll just talk to each other throughout the whole transaction without even saying 'hi' to you. Maybe it's coincidence, but I've noticed in record, book, and comic stores, that the ones with the rudest staff are also the ones where the area behind the counter is 2 or 3 feet above the section where the customer stands, so that they can literally look down on you, and you have to strain and stretch your arm to put your money up on the counter.

If you like trendy...

I stopped by this comic store recently and the word that comes to mind is Trendy. It has a great selection of everything, new comics, trades, mags, toys, etc. but it felt like a used record store, do you know what I mean? It had that we are too cool for you feel. The employees look like they should definitely work in a used record store and there snobby attitude also fit that scenario. I felt as though I was intruding upon there space when I walked in and the feeling didnt change while I walked through the store. So, if you dont care about feeling comfortable in your comic store, this is the one for you. Otherwise Id keep looking.
