Chester First Aid Squad, founded in 1945 as a branch of Chester Fire Company 1, provides emergency response and medical care services. It organizes first aid training sessions for families, companies and nonprofit organizations. Located in Chester, N.J., the agency employs more than 40 volunteers that include fire responders, cadets, auxiliary members, nurses and paramedics. Chester First Aid Squad utilizes several ambulances to handle over 900 emergency calls annually. The agency offers the File-of-Life program for senior citizens, as well as at-risk homeless individuals. It is supported by donations received from individuals and businesses. The agency is certified by the New Jersey First Aid Council and the Department of Transportation.
