I am amazed at the reviews here. I have used Tuel Jeweler's for years for watch and jewelry repair and have had nothing but a professional environment with quality work and customer service. Try them yourself before forming an opinion from these reviews. You won't be disappointed.

When I picked my wedding bands today, the woman there was so rude and started yelling at me and calling me names repeatedly and disresspecting me , how dare I ask her questions about the merchandise that I ordered and paid for , bullying me and reducing me to tears. She continued to insult me with names and told me to never come back to her store . I left the store shaking and crying . I could not believe what just happened, especially that I tried to be nice to her. The woman should not be at the counter abusing costumes like that with offensive name calling. This is so sad and so unprofessional . I will never ,ever return there knowing that this woman might be there and abuse their clients.
Also, wanted to add that another lady that works there called me the following week and finally explained the question of leftovers to my husband and me ,and that all the gold that I provided to her was used in the process of making the two bands. Something that the other woman should have done in the first place in a proffesional and respectful manner.

Poor Service

My fiance proposed to me in early June. The ring had 7 small stones that came from an anniversary ring his father gave his mother when she was pregnant with my fiance. A couple weeks later we dropped my ring off to be resized and asked about getting a different setting - the same sort of design, but add the slightly bigger diamond from my mom's ring in the middle, with the 7 smaller diamonds around it to look like a flower (the design my fiance was going for). They said they could custom make it if I couldn't find a premade setting. With a little searching on the internet I found a website that had the setting I needed in different sizes. I brought a printout of this in when my ring was ready and showed them. I asked about the pins that hold the setting - since my original ring had 6, and the new one would need 7. She said another pin could be added. I told her I wanted the pins to be set on the side of the diamonds, NOT in between. I also told her I wanted a low profile setting. She said it would cost about $150, but not to hold her to it. Then she asked my fiance how much he was looking to spend. He said $200. She said it would probably cost between $115-$150. He got a call 1-2 weeks later and the woman said the setting had to be custom made and would cost an extra $100. She asked if it was ok. The call woke him up so he wasn't thinking straight and just went along with it. When he told me I asked him if they already did the work. He called back and was told the ring was ready. They send things off to someone else to make/repair, so the fact that it was ready later that day meant they had the work done without asking us first!!! We went to pick it up and I noticed there were still only 6 pins. Since there were now 7 stones arranged around the center stone, the pins weren't all set in the same places. Some were between the diamonds, some were on the edge. Now, remember I told her I didn't want them in between. It didn't look quite right with them set differently around the setting. I pointed this out and the woman said another pin could be added. My fiance asked why the setting had to be custom made. She said the center diamond wasn't a standard size so didn't fit the premade settings. It would be either too large or too small. The center diamond would have had to either be in a bezel type setting or it would be set higher than the other diamonds (although it still was sticking up, which leads me to believe it wasn't really custom). I told her before that I wanted a low profile setting.... the setting I showed her before the work was done had all of the diamonds set at the same height. My fiance told her he was surprised he wasn't notified before they had the work done. She admitted it was her fault. Then she said she thought it was what we wanted. She said she could put everything back the way it was - reverse my ring to the way it was, have my mother's stone set back in her ring...and not charge us anything. My fiance said how about you fix the pins and we'll call it even. She said ok without a second thought. After 2 weeks passed since we left it last, and my fiance called to see if it was ready. He was told, "check your messages, I already left one." He said he didn't have any messages, then she said, "check again". The message came through over 8 hours later My fiance picked up the ring today and whoever did the work on the pins did a poor job. 2 are straight, and 5 are curved. There is some extra gold between 3 diamonds. There was lint underneath, and a hole under the setting. She told my fiance that they don't make 7-prong settings. FALSE! it's on the same website as the 8-stone setting I found! As he was leaving he told her, "when someone calls to ask if something is ready, all you need to say is 'yes' or 'no'" she started shouting "that's ...

They were EXTREMELY RUDE to me...

They were EXTREMELY RUDE to me without provocation. My watch needed to be serviced with them for a few days so I asked for a receipt, which they had not offered me. Seems logical to me to get a receipt when leaving a $1,000 watch. Before leaving, I reviewed the receipt and politely asked a question about it. The manager/owner came over and tore up the receipt and very rudely told me they didn't want to service my watch any more. I was dumbfounded because things seemed pleasant until then. I tried pacify the shopkeeper but she just kept rudely telling me that I had been too picky and to take my business elsewhere. They did me a big favor because I found more reputable jewelers afterwards. Others were not surprised about my experience at Tuel and had horror stories of their own. There are far friendlier and more reputable shops in Charlottesville.
