Cared for by Dr.T

I'm pregnant now with my 3rd child. My first was delivered through UVA. I had 2 miscarriages trying to have my 2nd child. I was referred to Dr.T do to high risk and the care I received was excellent. I ended up having my girl 7 days early and just luckily he was there the night I came in and he was the best dr. I'm pregnant now with my 3rd child and I suggested I go to Dr. T. So far good, I'm only 8 weeks so I have a long journey ahead.

Disappointed

The first visit was great...ish. The receptionist wasnt great but the reviews said that. Dr Porter seemed like the perfect dr. She looked at my charts listened to my concerns and gave me choices. When my period was for days late I called for advice. The nurse told me to take an rx and that made me uncomfortable. I asked to speak w the doc. It took days to get a callback. I called once a day to update the office with my current number since I was at a conference. When she did call I told her that I was three days late but no positive test. She said to take the progesterone rx despite the fact that I knew I ovulated because of charting. My temp was up for two weeks by then. She said that i misled her into getting progesterone. She saw my charts at the apt and made the decision. Because i ovulated taking the pills would only delay my period more. She made a comment about how well i educated i was on Google. She then started behaving really erratically. She told me to stop yelling at her and repeating the phrase "this conversation has gone downhill" after each attempt I made to calm her. I tried to explain and understand she sounded shaky and kept repeating. She was talking as though she were making a show of it because her responses didn't match my words. When I got off the phone my coworkers wanted to know why I was talking to my doctor like a frightened child and why I kept apologizing to a Medial professional. If that's all it took for her to lose her cool. I don't want her in my delivery room.Read more: http://www.vitals.com/doctors/Dr_Dana_Porter/reviews#ixzz2PdkGLAs3

Used to love this place

i have been going to this office since last year it was great but this time its so different the staff is very rude i put in my fmla papers 3 months ago and called the next week to ask about them and was told that they had been sent and its 3months later and i was wondering why i hadnt received my conformation papers come to find out they havent even filled them out. When i called to ask who was in charge of it the main person who answers the phone first started huffing and puffing on the phone then proceeded to explain the procedure to me but little did she know i did what i was supposed to do major attitude then she told me she would get back to me thats been a week ago so yes Dr.T needs to get new front end staff because i dont feel welcome anymore.

Office Staff...Big Disappointment

Oh, this office. I have so much to say about them. Talking about rude. All of them! It hasn't been one time that I have entered into their office and the office staff are happy or not on their personal cellphones. Everyone seems to be very happy when Dr. T is there but, he's their main boss. They really need new office staff. If you call there you might not get a call back before 3/4 business days and then when you do the person on the other end of the phone is so short and rude it's sicking.

Poor hospitality and appointment scheduling

I was seen mid-Oct and scheduled a follow up for a month later, midd-Nov, when I expected my lab results to return. I received a call from a woman named Teresa notifying me the results were back, and looking to schedule the follow-up. I informed her I should already have an appointment booked. Teresa was reluctant to search for my previously scheduled appointment and informed me if I couldnt provide proof the appointment had been scheduled, the soonest I would be seen would be in early Dec, which was over 2 weeks more than my originally scheduled appointment. Teresa spoke as if she was annoyed I asked her to look again for my appointment and she rudely refused. I politely ended the coversation and hung up, and now Im writing this review to warn other patients.

Refuswd to treat my seriously ill pregnant wife

Refused to treat my seriously ill pregnant wife because we also consulted with UVA hospital. As much this person is expert in his field, his attitude and self-importance over the patient welfare make him for one lousy human being. If you do go to this doctor, make sure not to mention anything-UVA or he will dump you cold - that is after he collects his office visit payments. One more personal note to Siva - stop chewing the gum when talking to your patient, it's unprofessional.

2 C-Sections then 2 VBACs

Child#1-footling breach, delivered by c-section.Child #2- I was determined to avoid a c-sec. Dr. Thiagarajah allowed me to labor for 24 hours and push for 3 before he insisted that a c-section was necessary. My daughter was 9 lbs. and her head was simply too big to fit. I will forever be grateful that Dr. T. let me try as long as he did.Baby #3- Dr. T. and Dr. Willis agreed to a trial of labor as long as I didn't go too late. Dr. Willis was on call when I went into labor. He, my husband and a dear friend coached me through a VBAC of my 9 lb. 1 oz. son. I found out later that Dr. T. called the hospital at midnight to find out if I had delivered successfully.Baby #4- No credit to Dr. Willis or Dr. T. for this delivery. My eager daughter arrived 19 mins. after I walked through the hospital doors. A wonderful nurse caught her; a few minutes later Dr. Willis walked into my room. Still the care I rec'd. throughout my pg. was amazing.Great nurses, doctors, staff in the practice.

Fine

I hadn't gone to the doctor in five years and I was nervous and this doctor was really great and made me feel comfortable and I thought his staff was nice too. I didn't have any problem.

What?

He's a fabulous doctor don't listen to her. Reason why Dr T is virtually every Cvillian woman's obgyn. Best experiences ever, both with him as a person, as a doctor and his practice.Sad you lost your baby but don't vent.

Customer Service Sucks!!!!

I went to this office for my first son and it was a great office, nothing out of the ordinary. Then I got pregnant while out of work and had to have famis moms and lost the baby. I had a D&E done and thought that the office would file and "out of network" claim for the procedure, since I had already descussed it with the office manager the night before the surgery. Well two months later and a 1400 dollar bill and I am still trying to get the office manager to return my phone calls. I have never seen an office like this one where your phone calls are not returned to you but I have now. I will say that the doctors are very good but everything else is lacking big time!!!!
