I have been a renter with Andy Wilsey Cooper for a couple of years now. Shehas always taken care of any problems that have come up. My most recent issue was with my garbage disposal. I called yesterday morning, and by yesterday afternoon I had a new garbage disposal installed. Thanks for the good work Andy!!!!

Prestige (led by Andy Wilsey) took over managing the property we were living at in Urbana, IL. This property was very old and had been badly abused by the previous tenants. There was a heating problem, drafty windows and SEVERAL other issues. I was assured by Andy Wilsey that these issues would be attended to. However I quickly found out that Andy and Prestige have deep seeded communication issues and everything I thought had been so well established was suddenly forgotten and never attended to. In fact, the only real communication I received after that (aside from them being confused about my heat bills) was that the rent was going to increase for the next lease period. It was disappointing but we didn’t want to move. Our requests were consistent ignored, we were charged for things that we shouldn’t have been charged for and… the list doesn’t end.

The worst part of all of this started when I made the mistake of asking if it was possible to install a washer/dryer in our bathroom (my wife and I were expecting a baby, which is why I asked). I was told by Andy that she would check this out… then I waited five months… nothing happened. As a side note, there was a problem with our shower that caused water to leak down into our neighbors apartment. They fixed this as far as I knew. But apparently this was still an issue, because when they finally came over (out of the blue) there was no mention of a washer/dryer at all… in fact, Andy had decided to redo the entire bathroom altogether. What?!?! The next thing I know she says they are going to take out a wall and gut the entire thing. I was nervous about it but Andy reassured me and said that they would be handling this very professionally. My wife and I were planning a three-day weekend trip and so Andy said they will start the work then. She said we would definitely have a working bathroom by the time we returned. Wrong! There was no sink, no bathtub/shower, no toilet, no wall, no nothing! Did I complain? Yes, of course, and Andy was EXTREMELY rude with me, I can’t believe it. She says the same old things to me: “some people only focus on the negative.” But there is nothing positive about this. The renovation went from the projected one week, to more than three weeks! On top of it, the workers had no respect for our personal belongings at all. I returned home the next day to a cloud of dust throughout the entire house. They had been sanding the drywall and a fine powder from it had encased the entire second floor. But they didn’t protect any of our belongings! All of our furniture and all of the baby stuff had to be wiped down, disinfected and washed. I had to throw out blankets and pillowcases, and individually wipe down more than 200 of our books. Three days later she finally decides to send a cleaning crew, but they did a horrible job and broke my vacuum cleaner! They didn’t clean any of our belongings, just put plastic over them. Meanwhile, I am loosing it because our baby was due to be born any day (which she knew about). I can’t bring a newborn home to this, and my requests for cleaning were ignored. I did the entire cleaning myself! It took me two full days. Then Andy comes in and decides they needed to do more work. More sanding… I had to run in and insist that the workers put up plastic or the same thing would have happened to our belongings. Anyway, finally, they were done. BUT NOBODY CLEANED AND NOBODY WAS RETURNING MY PHONE CALLS. I HAD TO CLEAN IT ALL AGAIN, MYSELF, A SECOND TIME.

This is a totally unacceptable way to conduct business. I’ve lived in five cities and have had 8 different landlords before dealing with Prestige. I’ve never had problems. I never could have even imagined that an organization like this could be so dysfunctional. I thank God everyday since we decided to move.
