I visited Dermatology Associat...

I visited Dermatology Associates of Cedar Hill for skin condition that I have had for over 10 years. On paper work and in the consultation, I let the Physician Assistant Lynn Hay know that I was seeking an alternative to the over the counter and previously prescribed medicines. I was informed that the Physician Assistant with Dr. Carter would be assisting her. Dr. Carter turned out not to be in the office at the time and the Physician Assistant Lynn Hay simply took a look at me, and prescribed medicine and an over the counter medicine. Our time together was all but about 5 minutes. It would have been less, but I tried to keep her, as I was trying to get answers to questions and feel as if my visit wasn't a fly by. I asked questions to see why she thought I should take this and she said because despite possible hormonal acne, she thought it best to try teenage acne care. I let her know in the beginning that I have been to dermatologists before and have been battling with this for over 10 years. Without any testing, questioning on lifestyle habits or anything specifically personal to ME, she still prescribed me a general medicine when I made it clear that that's not what I was there for.

I was told by a front desk clerk, Cheryl, I had to pay for the physicians' time and education -- otherwise it would go on credit and history. I spoke with the Billing Manager, Patricia, and she told me that she would not consider a refund and that I saw the doctor and got a prescription. I let her know that I didn't see the Doctor, and that the service that I asked for, was not rendered. I have not filled the prescription and she let me know that I was wrong (in a very combative way) because I hadn't given the medicine a chance. I pleaded that why would I give the medicine a chance when (1) I have tried prescribed and OTC medicine to no avail, (2) that I asked for an alternative (3) that I wanted to be tested and further examined for something more specific and accurate and none of that happened. She hung up the phone on me before I was able to finish my feedback and complaint.
