I would highly suggest avoiding this particular mechanic. Everything started out pleasant enough. However the moment he learns that there is no more money to get from you he turns on a dime. We had a car that broke down. He told us he would pick it up and tow it to this location by 1 and contact us about it by end of the work day. He didn't pick up the car till 3 and we received no call and contacted him the following day at 2.

The vehicle had more problems than we wanted to deal with. So we decided against putting any more money into the vehicle as it was starting to cost more and more to keep up and running. After that decision was made he decided to try and sell us on one of his many used cars. During this experience he made snide comments calling past customers dumb for purchasing new rather than buying from his plethora of 100,000+ mile Buick Park Avenues and Pontiac Vibes. Not saying those cars are poor choices. I just believe you shouldn't talk poorly about your customers to other customers. He then continued to make remarks to my fiance about how girls purchase cars for dumb reasons. We told him that we had to wait for her title to be mailed to us from her parents house. He told us not to worry about anything and that we could pay when everything was sorted.

We shopped around and decided to purchase a newer car elsewhere. Upon calling and discussing that we would be transferring the old vehicle for salvage he took a turn for the worse. Telling my fiance that since we didn't have any work done or purchase his car that she would be charged a fee for every day the car had been in his lot. This charge was never mentioned until today. We were both at work so getting the title to a salvage place today was not possible. He then rudely stated that it would be another $20 then and hung up on my fiance.

I would highly suggest once again avoiding this particular mechanic. We only happened upon it as our regular mechanic was unavailable at such short notice. Please feel free to deter all your business from Ericson Automotive in Cedar falls. A better choice would be my main mechanic in the area Corky's Car Care. Cory and his crew have been taking care of our vehicles for roughly 2 years now with quick, reliable, honest, and affordable service.

Ripped me off! G. Charles Ericson is named as the defendant in my complaint against him before the Iowa Attorney General. On the morning of Nov. 9, 2015 I brought in my vehicle and told the man when I dropped it off, I only want to find out what's wrong; I will pay only 75 to a hundred dollars, nothing more. By noontime, he had swapped out two sensors and made the engine performance problem ten times worse, and insisted I pay him $ 348.82. Two sensors I could have put in myself in twenty minutes, that I didn't authorize. I had to invest many 100's afterwards trying to clean up his ignorant mess. This man is a total shyster. I have had a long working relationship with Chuck Ericson dating back to the early 80s. At that time I had an old pickup that was in bad need of repair. Chuck was able to bring it back to good condition. Recently I purchased a 1929 Chrysler classic car and it needed some repair. I knew that Chuck would be able to correct any automotive problems .... and it did have some! Currently, I'm proud to say the car is in tip-top condition thanks to Chuck's expertise. I would have no reservations about recommending Chuck Ericson and Ericson Automotive Company to anyone. He is fair and his labor rate is the lowest in the area. Don Timmerman

Chuck is a rip off. My daughter goes to UNI. She had a flat tire. She called Allstate roadside and they gave her Chuck. He called my daughter stupid a few times. He took money from her never fixed the tire. My wife had to call the police on him because of his shady practice. Parents--never let your kids have anything to do with this guy.

In June of 2009 I had Ericson tow my car to his shop because it wouldn't start. I asked him to take a look at it and let me know what the issue was. The next day I received a call from him telling me that I owed him almost $400! He had supposedly replaced my starter with a rebuilt one without even calling me first to make me aware of the necessary repairs! He then proceeded to tell me that he would not return my vehicle until I paid the amount in full. After days of haggling, (and borrowing cars from family to get to work and school,) he agreed to let me pay half now and half later. I paid half of the cost, left the shop and never looked back. He harassed me via telephone for months until I finally changed my number. I made a complaint to the better business bureau with regard to this matter. Chuck was a bully and a crook! The receipt he gave me was so jumbled you couldn't even read it. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't take your business to this man.

the owner of ericson auto is a huge scam artist. Please everyone watch out. He will charge u for stuff he doesn't do. He isn't a certified tech. He steals 5 gal of gas with every fuel pump he does. He cuts corners worse than anyone ive ever seen and He is racist and unprofessional. Stay clear of this place.

Problem/Service Date: 07/27/09Took my Mazda MPV for repair; the Engine light came on. Showed it to Mr. Ericson. He gave me an estimate of $130. I asked him to fix the car because my wife needed it to visit relatives within next couple of days. In order to get the business first he was nice to me, so I left van with him. After 2 days, he asked me to pick up the van. He handed me a receipt for $393.78 and told me that I could not pick up the van until I wrote him a check for the said money. Upon inquiring how did he come up with the bill, he got real upset and start yelling at me. Start talking bad about my ethnicity and migrant background. I decided to pay him and leave since this guy was out of control, bad mouthing and cursing immigrants. Ericson was very unprofessional, unethical and fraud. We have used Erickson's on many occassions and have had nothing but good experiences with him. When we have a problem Chuck makes us a priority and gets our fleet back out on the road quickly. He's even towed some of our vans back to town so the technicans can switch vehicles and get back to work. We definitely recommend Erickson's to anyone looking for great prices and great service.
