I discovered medicine later down the road. I had a great curiosity for how things worked and loved the idea of fixing things. I spent most of my undergraduate time at Duke studying engineering. After college, I realized that my interests had started to spread to public health – how different factors could impact health and the prevention of disease processes. Much of public health complements medicine, and, for me, pediatrics was a natural choice. I love the resilience of children, the chance to implement preventive medicine and the opportunity to be involved with families at such a critical time in their lives. I think that the best care is accomplished when there is open dialogue between both the patient and patient’s family with the doctor. In the primary care setting, continuity is so important, and I value building those relationships with families. As an educator and lifelong student of medicine, I enjoy staying up-to-date with the latest research to provide the best care for my patients. As a recent transplant to the Chapel Hill area, I love discovering new restaurants, hiking/biking trails and events in the area with my family. Although a little trickier with two children, we love traveling. In my spare time, I like to read and enjoy my fair share of sports, including ACC basketball (Go Duke), NCAA football (Go LSU) and NFL (Geaux Saints).
