It ain't the Germany we know

Since we had been wanting to try the cuisine here for quite some time, we thought we would go German. Having lived in Germany for 6 years, we were accustomed to food being slightly different in different areas of the country. Boy, were we in for a surprise! We ordered the courdon bleu. It was the most putrid thing I have ever tasted. It was fried so hard it was practically black. My guess is the cook knew this and tried to disguise it with some burned mushroom sauce of some sort which only made it burned and mushy. Likewise, the spaetzle was dry and crusty, perhaps boxed or just left out overnight to get the full effect. We choked down what we could and were sick for the rest of the evening.

To their credit, the place was packed with people eating the Friday fish fry. Germany it is not.
