Located in Colchester, Ill., West Prairie Middle School offers a range of academic and extracurricular options to more than 190 students in grades five through eight. Its academic curriculum includes language arts, English, mathematics, science and social studies. The school conducts classes in music, art and agriculture science, as well as administers special education programs. It also employs over 50 staff members, including a custodian and guidance counselor. The school maintains a library and media center that features a collection of books and reference and instructional materials. It offers various sports programs, including basketball, volleyball, and track and field. In addition, it organizes parent-teacher conferences that encourage parental involvement in children's education. West Prairie Middle School provides food and transportation services. It is a part of West Prairie CUSD 103, which additionally governs elementary and high schools and serves nearly 700 students.
