I brought in a block to be bored with torque plate, with a spec sheet of dimensions I asked for.



I wanted 3-3.5 thousandths piston to wall clearance. He mentioned that I might want 4 thousandths, I told him to follow the piston manufacturer's guidelines. Which agreed with 3-3.5.



He honed for 4 thousandths clearance. I measure the bores and they have near zero out of round without the torque plate on, once I put the plate on all of a sudden I measured out of round at 4-6 ten thousandths. The block probably wasn't honed with the plate installed.



5 stars for decent machine work.

It also took 2 months to bore and hone a block. But that's kind of par for the course for engine shops. The specific reason I hate taking work to other people/shops is exactly because they do things how they always seem to ignore my requests and do it to their own specs. I'm not asking for anything crazy in my specs, either.
