The Perfect Neighborhood Walgreens by
I shop in this Walgreens at least once a week. They have a friendly staff, loyal clientele, and serve northwest Des Moines from a busy corner in downtown Urbandale. Yes, it is not the reincarnation of the old hometown drugstore, the Urbandale Pharmacy, which was on the opposite corner for some fifty-plus years. It is, after all, a Walgreens. But it has a good stock of merchandise, skilled and friendly pharmacists, and does a pretty good job on digital prints. Carla and Steve are just two of the long-time staff members who provide cheery service at the checkout counters.
The Worst by
If the thumbs up could be a minus it would be -10. The Walgreens at 70th & Douglas is the worst store in the area. It used to be a good store when it opened, but they have let it go. They run out of stock and there are bare spots on the shelves where items used to be, but half the time those spots stay bare or are replaced with useless junk. The checkout people are slow, althoug polite, and when the line gets backed up, they don't call for backup when they need to. Not that it matters, because backup rarely appears. The place has really gone downill, especially in the last year. If anyone from the Walgreens corporate office walked into this store, it would be closed down within a week, and should be. They need to get this pathetic, ineffectual, badly run Walgreens out of here and put a small grocery store at this location instead. All this Walgreens carries anymore is high priced garbage.
