Description: Waggin' Tails Retreat is a family owned and operated dog boarding and daycare facility in Elko, Minnesota. My husband and I have been dog lovers and owners for 20 years.

We are dedicated to providing a superior customer service that provides dog owners with a peace of mind that their pet will receive loving care, attention and exercise while in our care.

Waggin' Tails Retreat is a unique place for dogs conveniently located 10 miles south of Burnsville right off I-35 set on 10 acres. This is every city dog’s dream spot. Open space and wood for endless romping and playing. Along with a lovely wood-chipped walking path were your dog can enjoy a nice stroll, your dog will be in heaven!

What Waggin' Tails Retreat has to offer:

• Two spacious indoor play arenas, including one for smaller or older loved ones the other for the more active member of your family
• Our suites are separated enclosures that are 4x8 with dog beds and blankets.
• We also have two bigger suites, one 8x10 and 8x6 for the families with more than one dog
• We offer indoor climate controlled accommodations, with daily housekeeping services
• Spacious back yard for free play or a little fetch, along with a pond for a little summertime fun for all those dogs that love the water
• For peace of mind dogs are supervised at all times

We are open 365 days a year and there's no extra charge for holidays or weekends. Pick-up and drop-off is available 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday or by appointment on Sunday and after hours.

We require annual distemper, bordetella and rabies every two years. We also will administer all medications but do require written instructions as to when and why. Going to a different place can be upsetting enough on some dogs.

How will my dog be spending their day at Waggin' Tails Retreat? Our days are rotational between leashed walks, off-leash play, feeding time and down/naptime.

What should my dog bring to Waggin' Tails Retreat? His or her food, paperwork, a safe, secure leash and collar. We have beds, crates, and toys of every shape, size and color! If you chose to bring more, we cannot guarantee that it won't be shared. We also ask that you provide your own food as to prevent any upset tummies.

A wonderful place for our dogs

by Jason Boche , 04/02/2013

Our 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels Snickers & Duncan have been in Kara's care many times and they are well taken care of. The facilities are great & Kara is pretty flexible. The dogs are walked in the summer & Duncan receives special medical attention with no problems. Being away from our pet friends for a week or more at a time isn't easy but knowing they are in great hands receiving attention makes it a lot easier on us.

Best care and easy access from I35

by Cosmo and Sadie , 12/22/2011

This is the best boarding in the south metro. It is clean and well maintained and the pets are well socialized and exercised. Pets that can be off leash have natural environment to play in. Kenny & Kara treat our pets like family, and our family like old friends.

Its the BEST

by Rob & Deb Kirk , 12/14/2009

Kylee is our black lab pup, an "offspring" of Dan & Katie, so she LOVES to go home to see her Mom & Dad. Kara & Kenny have a true love of animals & it shows. Kylee really enjoys her time there, & is very well cared for. Our pup has lots of energy & she certainly gets her excercise while playing with all the other dogs. The facility is very nice, clean & state of the art for dogs.we would definetly reccommend this home away from home for your dogs.

Barb & Todd

Our two Gordon Setters have stayed with Kara and Kenny several times now. They love it and so do we. Gordons are very HIGH energy dogs and they come home tired! What more can I say. It's great to take them to a "home away from home". Thank you Waggin' Tails!

Waggin' Tails is AWESOME!

by Becky and Zoey , 07/09/2009

My dog and I LOVE Waggin' Tails Retreat! Zoey visits there at least four times a week while I'm at work or gone for a long weekend. Kenny and Kara and their kids treat all the dogs as if they were their own. And they are very accomodating to your specific needs. There's always a lot of activities going on and plenty of space for the dogs to run and play. Zoey even learned to swim in the pond in their backyard! She sleeps for HOURS once I get her home at night because she had so much fun. Thanks, Waggin' Tails, for taking care of Zoey! I don't know what I would do without you guys!
