Volunteer of America-Dakota, has 6 licensed childcare service facilities withing the Sioux Falls area.
Through our caring staff and dedicated volunteers, we ensure the social, emotional and academic development of young children and empower older youth to be physically, emotionally and mentally healthy and ready to enter adulthood.
Our Childcare Centers:
Childcare & Family Literacy Center: offers quality, affordable childcare for ages 4 weeks to 10 years at the Childcare and Family Literacy Center. This program promotes the healthy development of children and their families and offers a curriculum that fosters self-confidence, discovery, academic readiness, social and emotional development, and cultural awareness. United Way provides limited funds for respite and crisis childcare for eligible participants at the Childcare and Family Literacy Center.
Basic fees apply. Scholarships are available to qualifying families. Our community-based Head Start and PreK Pilot programs offer additional services to qualifying families with children 3-5 years old.
Circle Of Hope Childcare & Afterschool Care:
The center, located within Messiah New Hope Lutheran Church, offers sliding fee scale, drop-in childcare and childcare assistance. The staff are well trained and educated. We provide quality care that enhances the growth of the child. We are partners in the PreK Pilot project serving 9 children. Also, we have an after-school and vacation care which includes pick up from Annie Sullivan and Cleveland Elementary Schools. Base fees apply with scholarships available to qualifying families.
Parent Child Learning Center:
Parent Child Learning Center (PCLC) provides quality care and nurturing for children and offers support and guidance for parents facing everyday challenges while pursuing their education and employment goals at Volunteers of America, Dakotas. The PCLC has three areas: infants (0-13 months), toddlers (1-3 years), and pre-school (Head Start, 3-5 years old). The PCLC is a community Head Start site; the Department of Social Services licensed the PCLC for 65 children.
Teen Parent Program:
Volunteers of America, Dakotas' Teen Parent Program provides nurturing childcare and parent support for Sioux Falls School District students with babies and young children so parents can complete their education. The center is located in Joe Foss Alternative School but is available to all student parents in the Sioux Falls School District and is open when school is in session. The State of South Dakota licenses the center for 35 children. The center is set up in two rooms, one for infants and one for older children.
Youth Link/Kids Campus:
Volunteers of America, Dakotas' Youth Link is a multi-faceted enrichment program designed to intervene early with young people and guide them toward making healthy choices.
It offers after school and summer activities including homework assistance, recreation, art, character building, and community involvement.
The goals of Youth Link are as follows:
to increase attendance in school
to increase performance in school
to increase social skills
to increase organizational skills
to increase the skills of families in addressing their child's academic and emotional needs
to involve youth in their community via volunteer service
to decrease or avoid school office referrals
to decrease or avoid involvement in the juvenile justice
