They are the best!!!!! by
I have to say They are the most caring vets i have ever been to. I have been taking my dogs there for years. I ran into a problem and could not get medication for my dog, I had to move to the east coast and the vet i took my dog to would not give my dog the meds she needed they wanted another 700 dollars for test , They had her records so they new this problem was a chronic problem and she has been treated for years for it, so needless to say i was stuck and frantic , I called Dr. Kroll and the awesome vet that he is phoned in her script to cvs and now my baby will be all better. THANK YOU From the bottem of my Hart DR.Kroll and staff for always Being there for me and my Furry babies!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been taking our Persian cats and our dogs to Dr. McKelvie for the last 7 years and I have been treated with nothing but compassion and good results. He has performed neutering, spading and minor surgeries with the utmost of care. His staff has never been anything but polite with us and their charges are respectable. One thing that I have really appreciated is that I can always get into see McKelvie when I need to get in!!!! Other doctors will not accommodate even if I have really sick baby!!! Barbara F......
Horrible staff, rude, they do not care about you by
I have been going to Viscaya Prado for six years, and I finally had enough. I originally went there because I hear good things about the vets. The vets are appear to knowledgeable, but even after they met me and my dogs numerous times, they act if they never met me, no small talk not even eye contact sometimes. But, I always went back because I trusted the vets. Now, I had enough. It was the staff that put me over the edge. The staff especially, the front desk staff are extremely rude, they act like you are annoying them. The staff does not care about you and your animal. Do not go there, go some where else. Do not give these uncaring people your hard earned money.
Dr.McKelvie - My Vet for over 16 years and the most brilliant and compassionate Vet in the World! by
During my 16 years of going to Dr.McKelvie with my miniature dachshunds ( both lived to be 15 years old ) my 18 year old cat, my 15 year old German Shepherd and various other strays that needed help , Dr. McKelvie has been, not only compassionate toward them but is a brilliant surgeon. His incisions are undetectable after a few weeks which is more than I can say for any Human Doctor I've ever had. He seems to be almost "physic" when it comes to knowing what an animal needs.None of my pets have ever been afraid to go back or nervous around him. Quite frankly I'm more concerned about the care my pets receive than the outer workings of the front desk. Their fees have always been reasonable and I am proud to call him my Vet.
Do not call late on a Friday afternoon! by
Made the bad decision of calling just before 4 on a Friday. Got disconnected. Called back and got a snotty, rude and unprofessional woman. She let me know that they were busy and I was gonna have to hold on to place the 3 prescriptions I had. She then began to berate me for not having the animals in question having been seen in the last year and ended up cancelling all the prescriptions. Her message letting me know of this sounded so "ha ha". When I called back I was told how do you expect to kill the cat's tapeworms if you don't control the fleas......well that is why I order them Comfortis every month???? All the animals I have taken there over the years.....spays, neuters, teeth cleanings etc. and you don't know that my dogs are old and there is not much to examine any more???? Dr. Melloh and Dr. Nelson are fantastic!!!!!! I just happened to get the "they will lose their license girl" who probably needed to get her Friday night drink on.
I bought a siberian which I love dearly from Dr Janice Hughes. Her vet (Milton McKelvie with Viscaya-Prado) issued a clean health certificate the morning I picked the cat up. The next day I took the cat to my vet and found out it had a bad case of conjunctivitis (pink eye) and an upper respiratory infection. He also had quite a few live fleas, had not been given all his vaccines per the health certificate and no rabies vaccine which is illegal in FL. He should not be enabling this breeder to sell sick cats.
Best of the Best by
cat & dog owner -
I have been bringing my animals to Dr. Krohl and Dr. McKelvie for 8 years. I am VERY pleased with the expert care they gave my animals. I always refer anyone who asks me about Veterinarians to bring their pet to them.Their staff is very professional and friendly and the Vets on staff are too! Very compassionte and reasonably priced.
DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE by
Just Doe -
The gossip and horrible service after 3 years has taken it's toll. DO NOT trust the Doctors to care or treat your animal with care. The animals are only $$$$ signs to them. The entire staff will gossip about you the owner. This is the point where I am changing vets and moving on. They can never find your records. I took a dog to be neutered and they did NOT give me any paper work on the "after care". I had no idea what to do and how to clean his stitches. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!
Don't take your pet to Dr. Scott Cornwell by
Dr. Scott Cornwell totally misdiagnosed my dogs eye infection...which was bacterial...as glaucoma! Do not take your animal to him...EVER!!!
Great Veterinary Hospital by
After relocating to SW FL 3.5 years ago, we needed a new vet for our dog & birds. We have been more then pleased with the care & treatment of our fuzzy family members. They have been treated by both Dr. McKelvie & Dr. Nelson. Their experience, wisdom & gentility continues to impress us. The extended staff is so patient, accommodating & professional. We are completely sold on them! On a side note, we first visited a vet within walking distance to our home, that came highly recommended. No comparison. Viscaya-Prado charges on average HALF of what the previous office did for the same services.
