Our Vision at Vineyard City Church:
To be a family of all ages, colors, languages, backgrounds and tax brackets, united by and growing through our faith in and love for Jesus. To be citizens of the kingdom of God who go out with Jesus daily, to show His love in word and deed to whoever God chooses to bring our way.
We would love to have you join us anytime. Please dress however you find comfortable. Our service is casual. Please feel free to come as you are. We try to be honest and transparent and want you to come and feel welcome and loved by God. You will see people from all walks of life when you arrive.
We meet at Blenman Elementary School, at the corner of Country Club and Elm/Pima. There is plenty of parking in the school lots, as well as street parking on Adams and Bentley next to the school. The entrances we use are on the west side of the school. (click here for a parking and entrance map)
The service begins at 10:00am, but by about 9:40am there is coffee ready and there are greeters to welcome you. The greeters will give you a bulletin and a packet with information about us and a free CD of Vineyard music. Infants and toddlers can be dropped off at our nursery before the service, if you want. Elementary students and youth join the adults for the first part of the service.
Our service begins with about a half-hour of worship, led by our worship band. Words are projected on a screen. Our hope is that during this time you will experience God’s love and, if comfortable, reach out to Him.
After worship, students from K-6th grades are dismissed to Kids Church. Youth group meets the first and third Sundays of the month. We know it can be hard to send your kids off to a separate class when you first visit a church. You are welcome to keep them with you during the teaching, if you prefer.
Next we have announcements, followed by a short break for coffee and to give a moment to meet people.
The teaching comes from the Bible. Our focus is on Jesus; what He did and said and what He wants to do today. We try to limit jargon, although there is some terminology to learn. We seek to apply the Bible to our everyday lives, but we are not trying to be trendy. We just want to understand more of the Bible and apply it!
Once a month, the teaching is followed by communion, which is open to anyone who is a follower of Jesus, regardless of church background.
At the end of the service, we usually offer prayer for anyone who wants it, for any need they have or anything that God has put on their heart that morning.
Our Pastor's name is Gary Stokes, and if you'd like to learn a bit about him, click here.
We have several classes you may be interested in as you learn more about the Vineyard, and as you make your decision to continue attending. The Newcomers class gives you the opportunity to ask all sorts of questions in regards to the Vineyard. Alpha is a great place to learn more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus today, and the shape class gives you insight into the specific ways in which you are crafted by God to carry out his will. Check out the bulletin or the classes page to learn more.
We also encourage you to reach out and ask anyone at church the questions you may have.
