General Orthopedics
Accidents, arthritis, osteoporosis as well as age can cause bone and joint wear and tear. Our board certified orthopedic physicians provide surgical and non-surgical treatments for arthritis, tendonitis, work- and sports-related injuries, back injuries or serious illness. The non-surgical treatments can consist of cortisone injections, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy and/or orthopedic braces and supports.
Fracture & Sprain Care
Broken bones can range from common childhood mishaps to complex, life threatening conditions. Depending on the location and severity of the injury, non-surgical or minimally-invasive treatment options may include reduction to set the bone back into its correct position; casts, braces or splints to immobilize the bone or joint; traction to pull the bone to its proper length; or physical therapy to strengthen weakened or damaged muscles and tendons.
Joint Replacement Surgery
Knee and hip replacement surgery as treatment for different types of osteoarthritis is one of the most commonly performed orthopaedic surgeries in the world today. The Joint Replacement Surgery program at Verde Valley Medical Center has gained national recognition as a center of excellence for its high success rate. The program is wellness-oriented, for otherwise healthy individuals who need knee or hip surgery. It focuses on preoperative education, state of the art surgical techniques, skilled nursing care, and focused pain management strategies. Advanced physical therapy includes a focus on restoring independence as soon as possible.
Sports Medicine
Sports medicine specializes in preventing and treating injuries related to participating in sports and/or exercise. Its function is not only curative and rehabilitative, but preventive. The sports medicine "team" includes athletic trainers, coaches, physical therapists, specialty physicians and/or surgeons and the athlete. Because of the competitive nature of sports, a primary focus of sports medicine is the rapid recovery of patients to return to competition.
Orthopedic Emergency Care
Verde Valley Medical Center has board-certified orthopedic coverage 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
