With more than $1.1 billion in assets, Vantage West is the largest credit union in Southern Arizona.
Vantage West is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors which is elected by the membership. The Board of Directors sets credit union policies and maintains the best interests of its member/owners. All Vantage West members eighteen years of age or older have the right to vote in the annual Board of Directors election and on other propositions requiring a member vote.
Our history:
Vantage West Credit Union was originally federally-chartered as DMAFB Federal Credit Union in 1955, to serve military and civilian personnel working at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base (DMAFB) in Tucson, Arizona.
Over the years, the Field of Membership (the groups of people the credit union serves) was expanded many times. In 2006, The Board of Directors sought regulatory approval and put forth a special proposal to the membership. The proposal passed, and in July of that year, the credit union converted from a federal to a state charter - further expanding the Field of Membership.
With the expanded Field of Membership, the Board of Directors and Senior Management team determined a new name for the credit union was in order to better represent the entire membership and potential membership and to help alleviate confusion about who can or cannot join.
In August of 2006, the new name, Vantage West Credit Union, was announced publicly.
In April of 2010, Vantage West was again expanded through merger. We now proudly serve the members of the former First Edition Community Credit Union.
Building on a great tradition:
Today, Vantage West Credit Union continues to move forward building on the great tradition of serving DMAFB, in addition to the growing community which surrounds it. Vantage West now serves more than 105,000 members through its branches, online banking system and call center.
Member deposits are federally-insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF), a federal fund backed by the full faith and credit of the US government, and operated by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an agency of the US Government. We are regulated by the Arizona Department of Financial Institutions (ADFI) with oversight by NCUA for purposes of ensuring the safety and soundness of the NCUSIF.
