Friendly and capable staff, sterling facilities, and knowledgeable and caring veterinarians make University Veterinarian Hospital a place I know that I can take my pets for the best care possible.

I have been bringing my dogs here for years. The staff and the doctors are very friendly and professional. And it is amazing that the front desk staff knows almost every dog's name that comes for a visit.

Highly Recommend

UVHSC is the best animal hospital I have ever been to! My tiny toy poodle needed special care from knowledgeable vets which she received from Lynn Mccarron & Heather Mcllvenna. All Techs and staff at this facility are remarkable as well! I highly recommend UVHSC.

Highly Recommended from a veterinary technician

I was very impressed with the knowledge and compassion on my first visit. I called 30 minutes before closing(I was one of those people!) concerned about my cat. They were able to see me right away, and were extremely welcoming, never making me feel like a bother for coming in so late. Dr.Zelnik was very thorough, and explained everything thoroughly, giving her recommendations. I am a certified veterinary technician myself(but not currently working at any clinic), and I truly felt taken care of. She was very understanding of cost and gave me an estimate of what everything would cost(very reasonable), and supported my decision either way. Definitely the best animal hospital I have been to here.

HELPFUL AND SWEET STAFF

I have been looking for a vet around the Salt Lake area that I could use for my new puppy for weeks. Many of the office I had called were unkind, unprofessional, and unwilling to work with my schedule. When I called UVHSC, the receptionist was so sweet and willing to help. She was quick to answer my questions and worked with me on getting an appointment for my mini poodle, Lucy. She even put me on hold for a moment to ask the doctor a question for me and I could hear his sweet, chipper response. So far my little interaction with them has been AMAZING. Can't wait for my appointment!!

We love Dr. McCarron!!! More...

Our most recent loss was Gillie, a rescue Sheltie we adopted when he was about 10 years old. Gillie had many problems but remained a gentleman throughout our 4 short years with him. Dr. McCarron was patient and caring with him – and us – as we said goodbye to Gillie. Through four pet passings, Dr. McCarron was there when we cried and spent all the time we needed with us to grieve. We love her!

We love Dr. Lynn McCarron!!!

My husband and I have been with Dr. Lynn McCarron since she opened her practice 20 years ago. She has shared our pet lives through Lindsey, Mikey, Paulie, (all deceased), Emmy, Lily and Sophie. Dr. McCarron has remained kind, caring and gives the best care our family could hope for. She has been with us through all the ups and downs and deaths that accompany loving a pet as family. I’ve read the comments about the cost of care here. We have always been told up front what services will cost. And we have always had the choice not to accept the procedures. The University Veterinary Hospital & Diagnostic Center is just that – a hospital and diagnostic center. It is not a drive through one stop pet shop groomer in a strip mall. If that is what you want, by all means go there. But after 20 years of care, we would go nowhere else. Our priorities are our pets. Our loyalties remain with the most wonderful vet in the world, Dr. Lynn McCarron.

Very Impressed

I could not be more pleased with the care and attention that was given to our ridgeback ,Titan, and my husband and I this morning. We were greeted instantly and seen by the technician in only a few minutes. The tech (Shay?) was very helpful. As for Dr. Walton, She was by far the selling point for me. She was extremely patient with all of my questions which means a lot as I really hate it when I forget or elect not to ask something bc I feel rushed. As for the price, I am not sure what everyone is complaining about. Is it higher than most? Yes, but not by that much. Titan finished up his puppy vaccinations today with the exam included I payed a grand $9 more than I did at the last vet for his previous round. I am more than happy to pay such a small amount extra to go to such a nice facility at a great location with such amazing employees caring for my Titan.

Love this vet!

I love this vet! I have had pets, and vets, for over 20 years, and these folks are by far the most thorough, caring and have the most advanced knowledge. My golden retriever had skin allergies for years, that no other vet could solve. After seeing the docs at University Veterinary just once, the problem was diagnosed and can be treated. Not only is the facility beautiful, but the staff, techs and vets are so caring. I have found not only great medical care for my beloved family member, but friends who love him just as much as I do.

AMAZING VET

I recommend this vet, to everyone and anyone. They truly care about your pets that you bring in. they care about the animals health, happiness, and wellness. They care about saving animals lives, and keeping them healthy so they live long happy lives. They care about the animals’ mental, emotional, and physical health. They are friendly, helpful, compassionate and care about your needs and the needs of your pet. I have 4 two month old puppies, when one of the puppies got attacked, they had just closed and locked their doors, even though they could have turned us away, they didn’t, they opened their doors to us, and stayed after hours when they didn’t have to, to help try and save my puppy. They cared about what i needed and what was best for JR (My two month old puppy). When i asked them to be honest with me about all the questions i had asked, they were. They were up front and honest about everything. they are my new vet. they are truly amazing!

they killed my cat

I am outraged at this clinic. I was heavily pressured to do a teeth cleaning for my cat to "prevent other health problems in the future." Unfortunately, this procedure led to the extremely premature death of my wonderful cat. My cat was 7 years old, never sick in her life. A few days after the cleaning, she began showing abnormal lack of appetite and vomiting. I made multiple calls to the vet, but was repeatedly told not to worry, that such behavior was normal. When I finally brought my cat in, Dr. Olschewski again was unworried and just recommended trying a probiotic or a different food as her taste may have changed. When I called back a few days later with the situation worse, again Dr. O seemed unconcerned and told me to try wet food. The next day I brought her back in and found that she had kidney failure, likely caused by an infection resulting from the teeth cleaning. Fluid treatment was too late to save her. Dr. O did nothing for over two weeks when my cat could have been saved!

Their care is the best

We first turned to University Veterinary about 15 years ago, after a not-so-good experience with a different vet, and our various dogs and cats have had wonderful, compassionate (maybe we should say "loving") care from everyone there. They all seem to know every animal who comes in the door. Even when I drop in unscheduled to check a dog's weight and snitch a chocolate chip cookie, the pet is greeted by name, usually before they notice I'm there too. The veterinary doctors clearly provide great training to the tech staff and the reception people. Drs. McCarran and Lequient are great, and Maureen the tech is like an old friend. Expensive? Yes, sometimes it's hard to part with so much money, but the care is the best, and our pets are family. - Allen & Julie D., and Charlie & Harry Truman.

Wouldn't go anywhere else.

The University Veternary Hospital has taken excellent care of all of our family pets for many years. They offer the best care possible. All of the employees are caring and compassionate. I wouldn't take our pets to anyone else. Dr. Lynn McCarron is the very best.

THE BEST VET CLINIC IN SALT LAKE- BAR NONE!

Over the past year we changed veterinary clinics; The University Veterinary Hospital and Diagnostic Center has been everything we could have dreamed of and more. From bringing our first puppy up to good health and getting her spaid to caring for our cats with their health maintenance (and one with complex allergies), to allowing our oldest cat to pass in peace, the staff at this clinic simply rocks! Competent, compassionate, thorough, loving, timely, considerate are just a few adjectives to describe them. I would not dream of anything more in a vet clinic - the facilities and staff are simply the best.

Good but expensive

I have found everyone at this clinic very competent and very caring. They have shown empathy and interest for my most wonderful pet, they always remember him (and me) and have treated me with respect. However, they are VERY expensive, and they always seem to want to do a little more than necessary, so I usually walk out of there with a bill that exceeds $200. That colours things a bit for us as the economy has tightened. So it makes it difficult to give them 5 stars.

This hospital KILLED my pet

Do not believe any of the hype about this place being compassionate and caring! They gave our pet an overdose of medication, and he died. They did not show any concern as his health deteriorated so horribly after they overdosed him. In fact, they distanced themselves from us and suggested he be taken elsewhere. He was so horribly, horribly sick when they were through with him. If you love your pet, do not take him/her to these incompetent people! They charge horribly high prices, do unnecessary tests, and do not care at all about the animals. I miss our pet every single day and I feel so horrified at what this awful place did to him.
