Unity's Basic Teachings
There is only one presence and one power in the universe and in our lives, God, Absolute Good. This denies the reality of evil in conflict with God. Evil is the product of humanity's distorted use of creative power, and as such can be dealt with by humanity.
God is within every person and all of existence. Every person and all of existence are inherently good.
We can connect directly with the Divinity within and around us through meditation-the practice of mystical or contemplative prayer; following our guidance in all we do; and acknowledging the Divinity in others and in all of creation.
Thoughts are a creative power. Prayer is a focused form of thought and word that brings forth healing, wisdom, prosperity, joy and peace. In Unity, affirmative prayer is used to change our Consciousness.
Spirituality makes a positive, practical difference in our daily lives. Unity's focus is on experiencing the Kingdom of Heaven today rather that on an afterlife.
