The doctors specialize in diagnosing and treating eye disease and various complications. Our doctors also treat eye infections and foreign body removal, consult with ophthalmologists regarding LASIK patients, and specialize in hard to fit contact lenses. About Us:

Back in 1978 a youthful Dr. Ralph J. Gebert assumed a one-roomed, independently owned and operated optometry office from barrington's retiring Dr. Jerome Hansen. Dr. Gebert and his wife, Elayne moved to Barrington upon purchasing the practice and soon welcome twin girls, and future summertime employees, Amanda and tegan Gebert. The office became The Eye Works and Dr. Gebert's exceptional service and jovial, sincere nature brought back old patients and attracted many new familites to the centrally located practice. Maintaining such quality eye care eventually required not only another office in Lake Zurich in 1990, but also another doctor from the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Anthony Prate. Dr. Prate graduated cum laude and shared the same vision for a personable, family-oriented practice as did hew new partner. Hew also joined the Barrington communnity with his wife bridgette, son Nick and daughter Ava, and the two doctors have since worked side by side, watching the communities and their patients' families grow along with their practice.

Almost 30 years later, the doctors and a staff of board-certified opticians continue to provide the same quality care and optometric service, as the office have been expanded and redecorated to fit the community's needs and fashion's latest opthalmic trends. The doctors also now treat for eye infections and foreign body removal, consult with opthalmologists regarding LASIK patients, and accent vision insurance such as VSP, EyeMed and David Vision. The office will also soon start accepting various major medical plans. As we begin our 30th year of professional eye care to the Barrington and Lake Zurich communities, The Eye Works would like to not only thank the thousands of patients that have entrusted us with their families' eye care, but also welcome them for many years to come
