Taylor-Winfield Corporation started in 1882 as a sheet metal fabricator. As the company expanded its metal fabricating operations, new electric resistance welding techniques were developed that led to the company's emergence into the market as a manufacturer of this equipment. In 1905, the company designed and built one of the first electrical resistance spot welders sold in the United States.
