Nice Owner, Not-So-Great Outcome

Ok, let me start this off by saying i'm a total PERFECTIONIST. I have only had my nails done a handfull of time that I actually liked. Usually I just walk out shrugging my shoulders and saying "heck, i can do better than this".

With that said, I called Swan and Co. and spoke to the owner, also the nail technician, about getting "Shellac" done....its basically nail polish that does not come off until you soak in 100% acetone. They claim it doesn't mess up your nails, which is does not, until you have to soak them off since is definitely drying on the cuticles and nails. The Shellac product is amazing! its not a gel, and not an acryclic. its different. AND requires 0 damage to nails before application, just the usual trim and shaping and pushing the cuticle back. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU'RE STRAPPED FOR TIME! she took almost 2 full hours just for my nails on my hands! She was heavy handed and it came out lumpy. Of course i had to pick RED, so it stood out. And at the base of the nail, it was thick and because it hardens to a rock, it was rough and kept getting stuck in my hair. so i filed that down after i walked out. THE ONLY REASON I"M PUTTING ANY STARS ON is because it did last the full 2 weeks....but that's due to Shellac as a product, not the person putting it on.

SHe was kinda like a used car salesman of hair salons. kept trying to sell me on everything. told me i should get permanent make up done...which she recommended blue eye liner! who uses blue eyeliner unless they r in the mood, and even then, why would i choose blue to be permanent! then she said i should have red hair, and i told her its too high maintenance because it washes out so soon (i used to have red). she told me that new red dye is better and never washes out...then when a hairstylist came by she said "oh tell her red hair dye is better now-a-days!"...funny thing, the stylist response: "Actually it doesn't stay on any longer, there's just better shampoos that deposit color and you shouldn't wash your hair very often with red." HAHA so she basically got called out lying right in front of me. Oh and she told me the LONGER NAILS keep nail polish better than short....uhhh that's a big no. PLUS she told me she's been using Shellac for over a year and was the first to have it, well Shellac hasn't even been around that long so that's incorrect as well.

SO IN THE END...go here for HAIR if you want, stylists are nice, but the nail lady...NO DO NOT! she's old (no offense but older eyes just can't see detail, and even with her eye glasses/reading glasses on, she missed a ton!)

My wedding mistake

I went to Swan & Co. the day before my wedding. My mother, sister and I were going to get our nails done. I chose this place because it had decent ratings online.. BIG MISTAKE.

It took THREE HOURS for my sister & I to get pedicures & manicures, and they didn't even finish my nails. I got pushed out of the salon with a small bag of rhinestones to finish my nails at home.

The owner hustled me into getting this new kind of nails called SCHLACK. She didn't tell me that it would bring my bill to over $300. SCHLACK is horrible. I wanted a French manicure and it looked HORRIBLE. It looked NOTHING like a basic French manicure.

The next day at my wedding, my toenails were chipped because they didn't put a top coat on.. and that night a fingernail cracked in half as I reached into my suitcase.

SCHLACK doesn't come off unless you use a special product (from Swan & Co.) & I was so pissed off & I didn't want to go back to the salon so I ripped all the nails off.

..Oh.. in addition to that- the owner told me I had egsima (which my dermatologist later said was wrong).

I will always have a negative association with this establishment and the effect it had on my wedding day. It was hands-down the WORST experience I' ve had with my nails.

The only positive thing I have to say is that the owner comes across as very friendly & nice. Too bad I let that blind-sight me into not demanding better service.
