Ok service, but......

I called to have my transmission replaced. I was quoted about $1870, $1900 or so out the door. I called back just to verify that that was going to be the "out the door" final price. "Yep, $1900", they said. So, I dropped it off just before the New Year. The next day the call and say, "We didn't realize your vehicle was a front wheel drive, we have to add another $500 for labor." I told them before I dropped of my vehicle EXACTLY what kind of car and what year it was. I told them, "Why should I have to pay another price, when I was quoted one before I dropped it off?" I was told that the technician didn't know that my particular year car was the first year for front wheel drive. So, I told them to go ahead. After almost 2 weeks without my car, I get a call from Bernie saying my car was ready. I asked what the price was "out the door." He said, "$2275." I again asked if that was the final price. "Yes." I go there with the checkbook expecting that total. I get there and...surprise...the total wasn't what Bernie told me. It ended up being $2553. My advise, when you sign the release for any repairs, make sure and have them write the quote in before you leave, so you won't get price adjustments. I have a 2 year warranty, so I'm pleased with that, not pleased with how they kept jacking up the price.

I first came to them when another shop told me my driving was the reason behind an issue I was having with my 90 suburban. They found the problem and fixed it. The estimate and the time they had it was as promised. When my suburban was totaled in an a bad accident they rebuilt it for me. I only bring my 3 vehicles to them and no one else. When my friends say they need a good mechanic I give them the shops number.
Great shop, great work, great guys

Finding a mechanic that can be trusted to do quality work at a fair price is a challenge. Bernie and his staff at SUV & Trucks R Us are that rare find. They are honest, up-front, and extremely competent. The years of experience are evident just talking with them - if it has happened to a vehicle, they've probably seen it and definitely know what to do about it! The services I have had performed on my truck were very well worth the cost. There were additional things done (extra cleaning of engine parts, for example) that took an appreciable amount of time, but were included without raising the estimated cost. Why? Bernie says, "It's customer service. We want you to come back." They are my shop of choice, and if you want quality service, they should be yours, too.
Very nice people and very competent

I had my AC redone and fuel pump replaced. Fast, efficient, cordial and the pricing was the lower end of being "fair" ("fair" means fair to me and still being fair to the mechanic). Highly recommended.

Great mechanics. I've been taking 5 different cars there for the last 6 years and have never been disappointed. They are fast, efficient, cheaper than, say, the Subaru dealership, friendly, and competent. I carry their business cards to give to my customers because finding a good mechanic can be a frustrating and trying experience so why not start with the best? Highly recommended.
