i hate this store i have gone several times because it is near my house NOBODY WILL OFFER assistance and when you SPECIFICALLY ask for assistance they IGNORE you employees look right through you when you are trying to get their attention this store apparently trains their employees to be as rude as possible to customers this has occured every time i have gone to this store and i am finally upset enough to write this review warning others additionally, they have a very sketchy assortment of stock, do not expect to find what you are looking for oh, did i mention over priced ?
willing employees but no knowledge
by waterlilly , 10/01/2010
I drove from over 45 mins out because of an advertised item...I had some specific questions about it, however, no one in the store could answer my questions. Everyone that I spoke with in the store was very polite and willing to help, but had no knowledge. They were being called from other areas of the store to help me. Why wasnt there anyone working in the area that I needed help in? This is a management issue...not an employee issue. I am sorry to say that Sutherlands has lost my business.
great prices poor customer service

went in to purchase some new tile for a bathroom project. I had some technical questions about the sub floor and what I would need to do it. I was informed that the "flooring guy" was off that day and that no one could answer my questions. I have been in several times for different projects and have run into this problem more than once. there is not enough help in this store..and the people that are there do not have the required knowledge. the sales staff is polite and willing to help but due to poor staffing of the store, i usually end up at your competitor to make my purchase. some advice...hire more people to work at sutherlands...you have good employees...but they dont know anything.
A store for buildiers - a nice alternative to Home Depot and Lowes

What I like best about Sutherlands is that it was here long before Home Depot and Lowes came to town. Sutherlands has been serving our community for as long as I have lived here--nearly thirty years. I like their selection of building materials. While the big chains have limited their supplies to what is popular with week-end do-it-yourselfers, Sutherlands has always been a lumber yard where you can get the kinds of products that the big chain guys don't carry. I just bought some unfinished oak kitchen cabinets. What a deal. They were about half the cost of the pre-built units that Home Depot carries. Sutherlands carries a small-blade garden shovel. I've been looking for them everywhere. You can't find them at the other guys' stores. I bought two. As you can imagine, Sutherlands is not as popular as the Home Depot and Lowes. Great! I never stand in line at Sutherlands. Conveniently located at the corner of North Temple and Redwood Road.
