Sushi Yoshi Japanese restaurant by mutsureibo - 10/06/2008Of all the sushi restaurants in the Denver/Boulder area, Sushi Yoshi is the one I keep coming back to. The cjhef, Yoshi-san is deeply trained in Japanese cuisine and it shows. I care about the nuances of presentation and the first bite of freshness, and Yoshi-san delivers consistently every time I go. His sashimi is unsurpassed and simple dishes such as agedashi tofu come across as having a special freshness and subtlety that is delightful. There are often surprises on and off the menu that only a Japanese chef of his training could know about. Where he finds the necessary ingredients I can't imagine! The cooked items are also splendid. His simple Hamachi collar with rice and clear soup is inexpensive and delicious. His tempura is fresh and perfected presented. I enjoy the simple dishes because that's where his excellence shows up. Eating at Sushi Yoshi always feels like it was worth the effort of going out to a restaurant. Highly recommended.
a disapppointing dining experience by Sree - 12/07/2007If you've never had good sushi before, Sushi Yoshi will suffice. But as a transplant from California, I can say this place really doesn't compare to even a mediocre Japanese restaurant in the LA area.
2 bad experiences by tchester41 - 12/03/2007I've had 2 bad experiences at Sushi Yoshi--both of them service-related. The first time I went, we waited over 15 minutes to get menus. Food took even longer to prepare after we ordered. We gave them the benefit of the doubt because the restaurant was relatively packed. Unfortunately we didn't have a good 2nd experience either. And this time they weren't crowded at all. Our family doesn't intend to go back with the other decent sushi restaurants in the area.
Good place for a quick sushi fix by Randy Ito - 11/20/2007Nothing to write home about, but if you don't have the time or energy to go someplace better, Sushi Yoshi isn't bad for a quick local sushi fix. Best time to go is on weeknights since it's usually pretty dead and they can get to your order fast. Service is hit or miss...depends on who's there and how busy they are.
Got sick from their food by foodie8 - 11/11/2007I'm pretty sure I got food poisoning from this place. I called the restaurant the next day and left a message letting them know what happened but they never returned my call. I would never go back, even if you paid me.
