Born in Oregon, Susan Comerford has been a professional artist for over30 years. She has gained knowledge both through work experience and by means of formal education, attending the University of Nevada and then the University of Oregon, from whom she earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in 1983. At this time she is able to concentrate completely upon fine art, most particularly landscapes in oil. Her work is influenced by the Impressionists, especially Seurat and Monet. My ambition is to create a body of work that speaks of this Northwest area and stands the test of time. I try very hard to be honest in my painting and not follow current fads or popular twists of visual truth. I like brushwork to show but not to become more important than the painting itself. By the same token I like there to be an abstract design, but it must not overpower the landscape.
